If you like the idea of good old-fashioned friendly hospitality and lovely food served in a timely manner accompanied by wonderful coffee, then keep walking up the street to another Cafe. The service here is subpar and lacks smiles and speed the coffee was hardly worth the bother and the food arrived at a glacial pace, scones were microwaved until dead and the jam was terrible, much work to be done in this little space, zero atmosphere not even a radio going I've heard livelier morgues don't bother.

Came here for lunch today…..wished we hadnt ordered a ‘gourmet’ sandwich which took ONE hour to arrive……no apologies…..no warning beforehand when we ordered “there maybe a while to wait” would not recommend this place or go here again

We, and everyone else, waited nearly an hour for our food and drinks. This was disappointing. When our food finally arrived, it was great. Would recommend the Club Sandwich and Scones.

Made the mistake of coming to this cafe when driving through Maldon. The food took a long time to come out. Scones were like rubber. Missed opportunity on getting locally sourced jam. The coffee was like creek water. The cafe was dead silent, needs some music. The two staff looked miserable.Some people don’t deserve to run a business.

Arranged to meet friends from out of town as was I. Arrived just before 4pm. Tables etc still set up on path. Went to order but closed sign was up, door was open so checked with staff in case sign was wrong but no they were closed!!! Read all the bad reports before going there but thought I'd give them a chance. I do hope they haven't included goodwill in the sale price of the business as there isn't any goodwill, new owners will have a job building a better reputation. We all have bad days and personal problems but being in the hospitality industry as I have for 30+yrs you need to be hospitable!!! I could have been a prospective buyer. We went down the road to a much friendlier Cafe for coffee with beautiful birds in a large cage. Finally had tea at the pub. Didn't spoil our day, good friends, good company.
