I have been going to Charles Nicholas since I was 16 years old (almost a decade!) and I have not fallen out of love with this salon! There is a reason why this salon has been around since '81 and continues to set the standard for this region. Sonya is incredible. I have been going to see Sonya and the team for over five years now, and they are by far the best salon I have ever been to! Whenever I had been to another salon, I would always seem to leave not totally satisfied with the result, but these guys have the skills and vision to get the best out your hair and give you exactly what you ask for.Even after moving out of town, I will still make the trek in there rather than go to someplace else - it's worth it.They also offer student discounts!

I had the Bio Ionic straightening done at Charles Nicholas. Love it- no longer have to worry about organising my hair for awhile as the first time I did it, it lasted for almost a year! This by far is the best hair straightening experience I’ve had, would definitely recommend it to everyone. I've been a Charles Nic fan for nearly a decade now and have never found another salon that even comes close. I lived in Wollongong for years, and now Sydney, and still drive back every 5 weeks to Newcastle to see my fav hair mechanic, Sonya. I have super short and fine hair, and no one can make it sit and look as good as she can. Super friendly and genuine guys. I recommend this place to everyone who comments on my noggin. I recommend it even if they don't!

Sonya is someone to rely on if you want your hair done well, with care and attention. She has years of experience with myriad hair types and is extremely skilled. I've got hair extensions, colours and permanent straightening from her, and I've always been thrilled with the results every time I've walked out. Highly recommended.

I have afro type hair and have always simply twisted my dreads myself. Recently however I gained a new job in a very professional position and I really had to look the part for my first day. I was very close to lopping off my long, messy dreads and opting for a short back n sides.My wife found the Charles Nicholas Salon and convinced me to check it out first before resorting to the clippers.Sonya made time to see me despite her booked-out schedule and the results were really amazing. My dreads looked incredibly sleek and clean and tidy -better than they've ever looked. I went to my first day feeling very confident that I looked every bit the professional. I got Dreadlocks done at Charles Nicholas in January. I was recommended by 2 'mainstream' hair dressers that Charles Nicholas is the place to go for dreads. The service was AMAZING, there were no dumb questions, they were very gentle and nothing was too hard! My dreads look awesome (in my opinion) and I can't speak highly enough about them! I Highly recommend that anyone thinking of getting dreadlocks needs to go and speak to Sonia and the team! They won't steer you wrong.

What I look for in a hair stylist is honesty, along with talent and a keen eye to foresee what is going to look good on a particular person. That is why I continue to go back to Sonya and why I have been her client for many years. She truly is talented at her craft and I never have to worry about how my hair is going to turn out.Sonya cuts my hair in a way that is manageable for my lifestyle and ability. She always listens to what I want and then makes suggestions on what cuts and colours that will work best for me.

I've been going to Sonia for many years now. I am always in awe of her professionalism and dedication to her craft. I have never left her salon disappointed to the point I give her artist licence as she knows what I like and each cut and colour is unique. I do have a certain standard as far my own style but she seems to recognise when I need a change as if she's reading my mind. She is my hair scientist.
