Balley Hooley Campground
Balley Hooley Campground is situated on the intersection of the Buchan and Snowy Rivers. Portable toilets, limited camping some swing BBQs and couple of picnic tables. We were lucky enough to be there alone and after significant rain so the Snowy was in flood. The road in is two wheel drive in the dry but steep in places. You'll need to supply potable water.

About 30 minutes from Buchan. Mostly dirt roads slightly narrow to get there. Camp has a drop toilet so no issue but looks like it would ba good spot for a camp with access to the water easy and according to the local park ranger there is a good hole for fishing in the snowy river. raining on the day we visited but clean camping area and seems to be flat areas there. Stunning views from the lookout on the way in.

We only went for the day, however it is a good camping spot. Has some portaloo’s and each camp spot has a swing bbq and a picnic table.

Beautiful tranquil place! Lovely place for a barbie...also awesome camp grounds, fishing spot & white water rafting. Have toliet facilities, fire pits & ample picnic tables. Definitely worth visiting!

Great campground!Clean, quiet and remote.Easy access to the snowy river.Great facilities for a free campground: non flush toilets, fireplaces, picnic tables.To get here you'll need to drive about 10km on gravel road. 2wd is ok.

Might be a good place to do some river fishing? I'm no fisherman but the camping facilities were pretty basic and the area itself wasn't very well maintained and the tracks to the river were fairly narrow and rough. There are probably better campsites closer to town in better condition. But if isolated and rough is what you like then give it a go. It's at the end of a drive along a gravel road which could be done in a 2WD if the weather is dry and your car has reasonable clearance. Low skirts may get lost in parts.

Stunning, quiet location with access to both rivers, even a small bay (slow) on the Snowy river. Not to many sites and very limited shade, even though there is heaps of shrubbery, nothing tall near the sites.The 360 views are so good and a 5min stroll and you are in the water.Limited to two drop loos, so bring water if you don’t want to boil. That being said, the river water is beautiful and clear. No booking so timing is important to get a spot in busy season. While pretty close to Buchan allow plenty of time for the drive in a the roads are narrow, gravel and windy.

This place is amazing for a getaway. Secluded, isolated and perfect for couples or families. The Snowy River is a 100 metres from the camp site, swimmable if keen. Will definitely be heading here again. *Please note: no reception whatsoever. Nearest town also has limited reception. We found that network kicked in between Buchan and Bruthen.

Balley Hooley Campground
The intersection of the Buchan River and the Snowy River is majestic, and this campground is in the center of the action.The road into Balley Hooley is steep and rough in places. Watch out for deer dashing across the road. The grounds themselves are pleasant and the short track to the Snowy River passes a bank on the Buchan where kayaks and rafts can be moored.
