Well worth the effort. An hour to walk to the top, the view on the other side was akin to scenery from Lord of the Rings / NZ South Island. You get hot quickly, the vehicle track is quite good to walk on and not at all muddy. Past the tree line the wind picks up and the temperature drops, so take extra clothing, gloves and a hat, you will need it.

Nice 2.5k ish walk quite steep and rocky at some points. Beautiful views over the lake.

An amazing walk, all gravel road and very steep but the views are worth it even if you can only manage a few hundred metres, you can still get great photos

Jacks Track
Great walk along a gravel road that has been well compacted. Views are amazing and well worth the effort however far you climb. Track is also know as Twelvetrees Track after William Twelvetrees the Geologist who worked in the area 1891 to 1919. The ridgeline is named after the Geologist. Quartzite rock is exposed along the cutting sides and the road cuts through glacial moraine material too.
