Craig’s Hut

One of the place to view the amazing high country view, where you can witness clouds and fog in valley.If you wish to drive up to Craig’s hut parking area Must Need 4wd for last 2km stretch. Otherwise any suv with ground clearance is good enough to drive on the rest of track from main road.

Wow. An amazing place to come and explore. Well worth the long road in. Camping in the area and this has always been on our list to visit. Wasn’t disappointed. Camping nearby , toilets and picnic tables.

Visited 6th May, rain was forecast all day and possible snow falls. The drive along Circuit road was fine, but the rain had made certain areas of the road slippery and plenty of visitors using the road chopped it up in parts. No issues though and an easy drive even with hwy tyres.The hut was busy, and had an awesome atmosphere in this weather, no views, but we were well aware of that before we left.Great walk around, but still plenty of vehicles in and out. Caution was needed leaving the hut due to traffic and the track being slippery.Overall a great place to checkout if you have a 4x4 and well worth a visit in both summer and just before June to experience both type of climates!

Craigs hut, a classic must visit store to the Victorian High Country in the front range.While not a legitimate hut being built for a film it has quickly become iconic and much loved.The area has toilets shelter and fixed fire spots, no camping allowed at the hut but is permitted a short distance away. Both my visits s have been on overcast days butI’m told the views are worth it!

Bucket list moment. Drive up to the hut parking area a bit dicey, never been 4x4 driving before, have now. Was exiting and was snowing, double bonus.

Well worth a visit - spectacular scenery. Ever changing and beautiful. Bucket list item. Good walk (45mins) up from the car park for 2WD.

Great views, not the best for the crowds though but cool place with an awesome view, ticked off the bucket list.A stock 4wd will get up there easily when its dry, but will need a modified 4wd to get up there when wet.

Finally got to Visit Craig’s hut and look out, it was our first time here so didn’t know what to expect. The road to Mt Stirling is dirt, ok for 2WD the Craig’s hut track is about 600m of 4x4 track. There is a lower car park that has a 45min each way walk if you have a 2WD. We drove all the way up to the hut car park in a 4x4 Ranger no probs.

Went off peak season, during the week. No chains required, we went up on a beautiful blue sky autumn day. Exceptional views

Been visiting Craig’s Hut for over 40 years. Its changed, but the view is so darn special.. Go see it. Then keep going back taking your friends/family..
