I would like to share my experience with Bass Timber as a warning to other companies who may be considering using their products.My flooring company in Melbourne engaged with Bass Timber for 3 pallets of their hybrid herringbone to be used in a project in Melbourne CBD.The stock was ordered and I arranged delivery to the site. Upon receiving the goods my installers noticed that the ends of the planks were missing the small protrusion that is necessary to have the ends of the boards sit flat. Please refer to the photo I have uploaded. We have installed hybrid herringbone from a range of wholesalers and they all have this protrusion or “lip”. Again please see the photo I have provided of a competitor’s product showing this.So here I am with 3 tonnes of unusable material in the middle of a busy city in the middle of the week. Upon calling Bass Timber and speaking with manager Jan, she argues that there is no issue it’s just that my installers are inexperienced and don’t know what they are doing. If you are reading this please check the photos, there is no way this is not faulty, and if it is as they say a “special design” then they have alienated every installer out there who have been using competitor products for years without any issues and now they need “training” on how to install this “special” product? When I show her a photo of a competitor’s product she even calls it tongue and groove which further solidifies her lack of knowledge. We of course argue back and forth and it is now getting to the afternoon and I still have 3 tonnes of faulty material sitting in the centre of Melbourne CBD streets.I tell Bass Timber that I will need to return it as it is unusable and I need to get it off the street and they agree.I then have to pay a huge fee to have a company uplift the stock last minute and return it to Bass Timber.Once the material is returned, Bass Timber not only won’t pay for the return delivery, but also charge me a $2000 re-packing fee. As a retailer I am absolutely disgusted with this treatment and would encourage anyone considering using Bass Timber to think carefully about your decision.

Cheap quality materials, the staff is completely lacking in knowledge, and they sell what they need to sell for profit, not what the customer is looking for. Don't trust this business, they are deceiving you.

Salesmen was wierd and the joining kitchen place next door didnt bother showing up to quote. I found better products and service elsewhere.
