Not friendly and rude on the phone, I ended up taking my bike elsewhere.Answers: form you answers You just show your passive aggressive behavior. I asked politely a price to replace a chain ( very simple task for most of the bike shops ) and he reprimanded rudely. I am a customer you do not teach me a lessons. Supporting the local community sometimes is painful

Quite an expensive service as some comments also said. In my case, it was more than 3 times the cost of regular bike shops. The problem was that I couldn't refuse it because I heard that price after everything was done, and I couldn't even get the breakdown.At least, never let him start his work before you hear how much you will have to pay. If he said he couldn't tell you, then tell him how much you can pay. Or you'll feel you get ripped off.P.S. Dear staff of this shop, you check reviews here, so just 1 advice; Be more mindful of your customer's budget. I read other reviews, and most complaints were about the price of your service. I'm sure it's because you shocked them like me.Even if you can't tell them the exact cost, why not say approx. price? How about you ask them, How much is your budget?" or something? You can do many things to solve this problem rather than just mocking them by replying like "Relax and have some patience in life"..."

I have been dealing with John for three years. He always has provided me with a estimate and range to what the price would be . His final price has always been less than his quote.He always follows through and finishes the job . If only the rest of my suppliers could provide this service and value as John does.Life would be a lot easier.Jason

John helped me out an urgent issue on my road bike a couple of months back completing the work the same day so that I could get back on the road first thing. Great service and very friendly. I'll be back to Gilberts in the future.

Reached out to John to help me source a smaller handlebar for my bike. Have to say that the service was great. Not only did he give me options, he ordered the part and told me I was under no obligation to buy if it didn’t suit. Got it fitted with a service at a very reasonable price.

Most certainly will return my bike and custom to John. His knowledge and willingness to listen was very welcome in this world of selfishness. Extremely pleased with both the results on my old bike and the fair cost for work performed.He didn't push but calmly talked me through what will be needed for future maintenance and gave a few helpful hints!

I bought a bike from Gilbert's Cyclery about a month ago and received fantastic service. Good and affordable bikes are hard to come by at the moment, but John was super helpful in getting me the exact bike I was after (fitness hybrid bike in large frame). You can tell that it's more about getting the right bike for the customer than making a quick sale with John. Would highly recommend.

John knows bicycles and he can fix them quickly and very reasonably. He deserves the 5 stars I gave his service.

I reached out to the shop for service on my Trek Madone & of course - seeking support quickly. John was fantastic to deal with. Very responsive with communication. Very patient with my questions. And very passionate to share his knowledge to better educate me to be able to minimise the visits to the shop. The service was speedy and very thorough. I highly recommend the shop & supporting the (few) local detailed mechanics still in the industry.
