Indian Tavern Tandoori Restaurant
One of the joys travelling to rural Australian towns is visiting little gems like this that aren't subject to the fashion food trends of the big cities. These are old school classics done well with the hospitality of country folk. Love the retro decor these places have and it's the last bastion of local eateries before the big restaurant groups buy up all the pubs and clubs and gentrify and modernise a slice of hospitality history. The spice levels here aren't dumbed down, the naan here is perfectly fluffy, garlicky and cheesy. The sauces are rich and complex and have layers of flavours as you work through them. A true sign of expertise of working with spices are those that cook the oils out of the spices, those that don't will always end up in reflux or heartburn. Indian Tavern is one of the best, west of Harris Park or Parramatta. Their flavours are sublime, the service is warm and friendly and most of all a welcome and a farewell is always there for you. One of the best spots to eat in Wagga.

Nice ambiance and friendly staff. A bit expensive though, considering the food I ordered had no taste. The fish in the Malabar curry wa slime rubber. Perhaps overcooked ling fish.

I have to say, this restaurant is one of the best Indian restaurants I've been too. The food was good, and the service was amazing. The venue was nice, and the vibe was very traditional. The food was very good, and incredibly filling. Overall, this restaurant was amazing, and I would recommend it to travellers who are in wagga.

When you are in Wagga don't miss to visit this excellent Indian Restaurant. Our dishes (Butter Chicken and Beef Madras) were delicious! The service was very friendly and fast. An absolute delight!

A beautiful Indian restaurant just on the edge of the main strip. Service was quick even though in the main menu it states of service is slow, apologies in advance.Food: flavoursome but the serving is small. Naan Bread is a must with any Curry.Family Friendly: some dishes are good for the kids, so Yes!Will we come back?: Yes

When we walked in we got seated within about 2 mintues. We sat down and had about 5 mintues before our order was taken. The food was somewhat reasonably priced but had lots of variety. The food came within about 15 mintues. It all looked pretty gorgeous. My only complaint with the food was lack of desserts, lack of gluten free, and the pricing for the dessert.Overall very nice. The servers were focused and extremely professional, the atmosphere was also nice and had heating/music.Would reccomend

I've been an irregular visitor to this restaurant since it was in a small shop in an arcade in the early 1990s. The food was exceptional in those days. Perhaps there are a lot more Indian restaurants to choose from now, and great chefs move on. The samosas were quite average, but the tandoori lamb was very nice.

We planned to visit this place since so long, but were too disappointed with the service. We arrived at 7:30 pm and aked for a table for 5. The staff made us wait for 15 minutes at the reception although there were plenty of empty tables for 5 already. When finally we got a table we ordered the food and waited for 45 minutes to get our order and asked the reception where is our ordered food was? When the food came and it was the wrong order. And cherry on top the waiter was super arrogant and rude. When we wanted to add on another food item they refused to take more order.Worst of all, my daughter was not even finished eating and the waitress started picking up the plates without even having the courtesy to ask permission first. The appearance of the place was good but we literally had to wait more than 45 minutes to eat for less than 25 minutes.I would not recommend this place to anyone.
