About the Business
Ongerup & Needilup District Museum | Australian Museums and Galleries | The Ongerup Museum Started in 1978 in the Old Railway Barracks Building, then aquired a historic farmhouse on site which now houses a Native food & Medicine, and Local wildlife display. The is also a agricultural machinery shed with the local stories of the development of the local farming area. Which is being upgraded this year.

Ongerup & Needilup District Museum
We came to the museum to see the annual wildflower display and it didn't disappoint. All local flora on display, most still fresh and named botanically and with common name. As an orchid lover and photographer, I was pleased to see no threatened species on display. Lovely ladies to chat to and provide more info. What I didn't expect was the display in the small museum itself which I found extremely interesting. Showcasing local wildlife, in particular the mallee fowl, as well as stacks of local information of yesteryear. Really interesting read as an ex-Gnowangerupian. Thankyou, thoroughly enjoyed.
