Easy to book and amend if needed. Very friendly and helpful customer service staff in Hobart airport. The Car we reserved was literally new and spotless.Return was super easy. Excellent experience. I am just about to book again. Highly recommended. Thank you Budget Car Hire Hobart.

BEWARE - Budget name, budget service - BEWAREI hired a small truck with the email confirmation and agreement stating a return time of 5pm. I arrived on time and the entire place was shut up, lights off, and everyone gone. Another person arrived behind me in the same situation.Took us 40 minutes (and multiple people) to reach someone who agreed we could take the trucks to another branch (30 minutes away), but that we would be charged for this. I disputed this as the branch closed early, and my agreement stated 5pm return time.I dropped the truck back to the other branch and was advised I would receive a call about their decision if they would charge me extra. Of course this call did not come and Budget charged my credit card extra, even though they broke the agreement.Funnily enough I would have been there even earlier, but continued driving the vehicle longer as it was doing a DPF burn, and the sticker in the vehicle states to keep driving and not turn the vehicle off. I did this, and it bit me in the end!Do yourself a favour and do NOT use Budget; use a reputable provider. Just look at Budget's reviews for similar situations as mine - I wish I did before using them.Will never use again. Horrendous customer service.

We booked for our week stay and upon arrival we were given a clean car and upgraded the excess reduce to zero which is bit pricy. Staff was easy to deal with and we inspected car in details and let the staff know regarding existing scratches and whatnot . Then we were on our way . We returned the car same condition and got our bond back and was fairly easy process . Will definitely use again . Thanks budget for accomodating us .

Having never hired a car before we were trepedatious however the young guy working there was so helpful and relaxed, gave all the answers and made us feel super comfortable with the whole process. We aren't locals so struggled to find a servo, they gave us directions and let us fill up rather than just charging us the hefty fees - so nice. Car was clean and new.

We booked a car and paid in full with an online organisation and on the day of pickup Budget had not received the booked and paid voucher. The ladies at Budget Hobart CBD were so wonderful, spent more than an hour with us, helped us to cancel the booking and they not only upgraded our vehicle and got us on the road but they really cared. The customer service provided by these two staff should be commended (and all on a Monday morning working with a new computer system) Thank you so much, Simone & Mick Ryan, Townsville

Called me the afternoon before my booking (for the next morning at 8am) to cancel my truck on me that I booked weeks ago to ensure this type of thing didn't happen. One of their trucks had been damaged which I understand, but there was no effort to reschedule, or look into alternatives. Avoid at all costs, use someone more reputable. Took 20+ minutes to get through to someone. Hertz picked up in 3 rings and actually went out of their way to assist.

Best and cheapest in the island, don’t bother checking the second best.I’d recommend to get the full coverage, we had to use it and had no problems. Friendly and helpful staff.

Rented a van to move furniture, which did do the job. The vehicle had a lot of damage to start with. Got charged on the day and told a $400 bond was being held as well, so a pending balance of $739 on the day. The charge was higher than the quote but I didn’t worry about that. Return the vehicle, given another invoice with extra charges, extra kilometres which I thought they would just take out of the $400 bond. But today Budget took out the whole vehicle rental again and the extra kilometres which left my bank account in arrears. I rang budget and was told the pending amount will go back in my bank in ten days. I will see if that happens.My question is why do you get charged twice.
