Food was really average, comparable to cheap takeaway food. Would have expected more from a place like this and it’s reviews. Service want great either. Menu is huge which makes you wonder how they can master any dish. On the positive side prices were comparable to de quality.

Just tried this place for our first time since living in the area for 20 years. I’m so glad we did it’s great ! Old school Australia Chinese vibes, which is such a nice throw back to our childhoods. You can alter many dishes to be vegetarian if you wish, they are very flexible. The lady working has worked there for almost 50 years ! And she’s great at her job. Can’t wait to go back and try more dishes. Apologies the only photo I have is half way through the meal.

The Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant has been a staple of Newport dining since the 70s. Still a great place to dine in or take away. I highly recommend Deep Fried Fillets of Pork Pekingese Style - yum!

They lied by not updating their website so they charged us extra, they tried to charge us extra several times (by up to 40% extra compared to promised), and did the worst packing in human history. All of our food was covered in sauce because of their subpar packing. I remember this place being awesome years ago, but now it is embarrassing. If you live on the Northern Beaches, don’t go to this place for Chinese. If you’re reading this, you guys have fallen to a new low.

Always double check order when ordering and then when you pick up. Never gets our order correct. What should be a relaxing night of take away turns into a stressful night. If they quote you 20m for pick up will take 40-60m checking order. This happens every time we order and then after a month or 2 when we forget how bad it is and that it was probably just a new person or that one time, and we order and it’s the same service. Food is good, just a lot of frustration before eating.
