Just recently discovered this gem in my local Westfield. We were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was.The concept is simple- you choose from the selection of vegetables, meats, seafood and different fish, seafood and meat balls. Then you take it to the counter and you pay by the weight. For $17 per 500gms, you get to select the soup base and they cook it for you. The best was the malatang soup base, a beef bone based soup. You can have a vegetarian option too.Since discovering it a few weeks ago, we've been there at least 4 times. It's that good!

They are ripp-off! $26 for this (with drink)! ? May be no other option in Hornsby?Lack of staff, food was waited for long, not recommended if you only have a short lurch break. Because lack of staff, no one cleaning the table. For the food most of noodles was over cooked, very softened.I don’t like this soup based either, not really malatang.

This is slightly more expensive than my usual malatang places and its quite obvious they changed their price because there is a sticker over where it used to be. The staff is very friendly though which makes up for that. There are never enough seats though and I am always forced to sit with other people. There is not that much variety compared to other malatang places either and at times the staff take a while to clean up the dishes leaving a lot of people just standing or people having to clean up other people's dishes.

So fresh and delicious. By far the best malatang and great vegetarian options. Tomato soup base is 10/10

Signature Maltang soup base is amazing, vegetable is very fresh, more fresh than I bought at market, my favorite ingredients are spicy beef, spicy chicken, black fungus korean noodle, tofu, sliced tofu, cheese tofu and instant noodle and the Chinese bread- dough stick.

A very good place to have some hot dishes with the ingredients you can chose yourself. They will weight the items you’ve selected and then charge $15 per 500grams.The default broth is so tasty and perfectly matching the ingredients offered.Seating is available enough.Electronic payments will attract surcharge of 1% per transaction.

So glad this has come to Hornsby. Choose your ingredients and style of soup - the ingredients are well labeled. I would suggest the meats, lobster balls, shiitake mushroom, beef balls. Soup has to be malatang with a lot of peanut sauce, some garlic, and very little chilly.

0 star rating. High school cashier is useless & thinkless. I had 12 month daughter was sitting and having a meal at food court and took their bowl once my one was served. She was telling me that boss does not allow us to take any bowl outside. Does not make sense at all as they are located in the food court. She was sayinh that bring my child to there if we wanna have maratang. Never recommend this place and i will never ever gonna go back.

WARNING: Expensive !!!!! $34 per kilo... ? This is both my first and last visit to this location. Really pricey when compared to other, better Malatang restaurants, even when compared to the city's N0.1 Malatang restaurant. If you're wanting Malatang, you might as well take the train from Hornsby to the city because the portion for one person is believed to be around $27 per bowl here, which is incredibly pricey compared to average of $15-18 for one person in the city. Additionally, if you requested takeout from this restaurant, they would charge you $1 for a takeout container during payment...... A bowl of Malatang and a train ticket to Eastwood or City still cost less than one person's meal at this restaurant.

I go between this and the Macquarie branch weekly. It was really busy today but I sat by the counter and witnessed the surprisingly pleasant service. Shau was efficient, he was dashing between taking orders, ducking into the kitchen and cleaning tables, and still managed to remain VERY polite to all the patrons - apparently a difficult feat if previous service at both branches is anything to go by! I also appreciated that he greeted everyone in english, only switching to mandarin if first spoken by the patron. In contrast, being asian, it's rather annoying when service staff assume you speak mandarin, which I have found was generally the default at Peppercorn.Good food too, great value, delicious signature malatang broth.
