La-Z-Boy Jindalee

THIS LAZY BOY PAID THE PRICE. DON’T YOU GET CAUGHT.I could also have titled this ‘Why I will never by another Lazyboy’. My 83-year old mothers’ Lazyboy controller ran out of puff. When I contacted the Jindalee store they advised a replacement would be $150. Yikes! But I was desperate – Mum could not use the seat without it. LESSON #1: Spare parts for this brand are expensive when you buy through their retailers. LESSON #2 I should have searched online (call me Lazy Boy), and if I had I would have found the same authentic part, same warranty etc, sold online for HALF the price, $75. Turns out the parts that automate the chair are not made by Lazyboy, but a third party who sells spares through numerous retailers (some at hiked-up prices like Lazyboy, but others for much less). So Lazyboy and their reseller at Jindalee are selling the part for DOUBLE the price of others. They kindly agreed to post the part to us (we live on an island) and charged a little more than the post, arguing they needed to cover the post of going to the post office. I wonder why charging double for the part was not enough that they had to mark up the post as well. LESSON #3: I won’t buy another Lazyboy chair because I feel so bad about their brand. A business model that justifies charging double, relying on the consumer to not price-check is, to my mind, fatally flawed. It might seem like a profitable move, but it puts the lifetime value of a customer at risk…..and in my case, for my Mum’s sake, I will definitely look to another brand next time.

After dealing with the morayfield store I would never recommend buying anything from this company. Buyer beware, they’ll rob you blind as they did to my elderly parents and then called to abuse us when I reviewed them. Disgusting business ethics.
