I made the switch over to Amber a couple of months ago. And I couldn't be happier. The app is great and easy to use. My biggest problem with the wholesale pricing was the negative feed in. Amber and my inventor provider have activated a automatic solar curtailment for my system, so no more negative fit anymore. During the whole process the Amber team was keeping me informed and where always answering my questions in a timely matter. 100% old fashioned customer service!

We have been an Amber customer for over a year now. With their development of SmartShift, we have been able to load shift - charging our electric cars in periods of low feed in rates and store extra solar in our battery to feed in at much better feed in prices. This development is a game changer and by far the best I have seen- especially if you have solar and a battery.

Bill shockOn my second bill after joining Amber to save money I received a bill more than double my usual amount and no change in usage at my home , when I rang to question I was told sorry the wholesale price was high at that time .Lucky I have now gone back to my original supplier and pay the normal amount .I’m still paying the large bill off to amber . Be careful if you’re switching .

$4me is what I'm getting after changing to Amber with the new feed in tariff. Amber did a great job getting my meter changed over to the newest smartest meter. Their SmartShifttm helps me sell power to the grid automatically helping me make $ from my 10kW solar system.

While Amber isn't for every household, it's worth investigating for those with solar and especially a battery.It can be even better for those who are often at home or have remote control over high power consumption items such as home A/C and a large hot water service. However, Amber's free SmartShift feature still adds some useful automation, optimising earnings or battery charge, as wholesale prices constantly fluctuate.Amber has allowed us to go into a power bill credit for the first time ever - even in winter.

Amber support has been 4 star, the two star rating reflects the immaturity of the technology at this point in time.What Amber are trying to offer is great in theory. Their app is okay, but lacks transparency when it comes to the complexities of the electricity grid (and helping you manage huge fees from demand use charges). If you're household is technologically simple with a battery and or solar, and you can easily avoid using electricity in the afternoon and evening, then Amber is a great choice. If, however, you have smart devices integrated with your inverter to ensure you are maximising your solar (especially an EV charger) then Amber's technology (Smart shift with solar curtailment) is incredibly immature. Despite all the data they have, I'm pretty convinced they do minimal stimulation of their algorithms. For example, when feed in rates are negative Amber will cut my solar production back so far that my EV charger draws from the grid and my solar does nothing. In addition, I've had smart devices turn unintentionally on (hot water controller and EV charger) when my battery is being exported during high price events. While this is not entirely Amber's fault, if they can't manage my smart devices, their concept of offering optimised energy usage just can't work. Blaming Solar Edge just shows how insufficiently tested their system is. I might return when I have time to write my own software to control the inverters and Smart devices of my home (I used to work in process automation and control, if you're the same it's fairly simple to control and their API is good enough).I'm very happy to be leaving Amber, the charges for using electricity at the wrong time are very high and I'm tired of micromanaging my smart devices and Smart shift on order to maximise my solar.

The support provided by Amber has been excellent. Customer service at its best! They're only too willing to help, guide and explain the way Amber operates. The detail of the bills is also very comprehensive

Amber's app is great. The monthly bills are very enlightening and transparent (as promised!). The support staff are responsive and helpful and have a deep understanding of electricity supply costs to consumers.

I have been a customer for a couple of years and I find Amber Electric really awesome. Receiving warnings of high prices is so helpful. By using the app I adjust my power usage accordingly. For example, if I see power is low around midday I will wash clothes, use the dryer etc. Even get a Meal ready for tea. The app is a great feature.I highly recommend Amber Electric

The connection had a few issues with a previous VPN not taking my batteries off their registration. James was really helpful. Also the ability to adjust my export and stop draining the batteries has been excellent when given the market current prices.Great service.Chris the CEO also helped me out with a disconnect problem when my system isolator tripped!
