We went there yesterday and a lady with short hair was extremely rude when we didn't realise we could not bring a puppy into the store. When we apologised, she yelled that there was a sign on the door. The sign was not able to be seen until you were in the store and past the plastic streamers. However in the past other workers have been very helpful and had great customer service.

My fiancé and I had an absolutely wonderful experience here today. We are very much bird people but we cannot currently have any birds. I’m also autistic and one of my special interests is birds. I took my fiancé here for a surprise date to meet a macaw in person as he loves them - and Goose was an absolute star, and so gentle. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and even though we were unable to take home any new feathered family members, we were welcomed to come back any time to see the birds. They have a fabulous variety, and everything you could think of to enrich your new pet’s life and then some. When we are able to have a bird we will 100% be coming to these lovely people.

I brought a gorgeous 13 week old cockatiel who is an absolute delight. Riley is super friendly, loves a head scratch and has been everything I wanted in a tiel. Very happy with my purchase and the new addition to the family

I was honestly quite saddened by my experience here. I was looking at buying a conure from this store but upon arrival I aas shocked. The birds were all clipped agressively so can't fly, and while controversial I understand. But they were all terrified of people. My guess is being man-handled constantly they were scared to go near people, which for a hand reared bird is probably not good. The cages were tiny, the one with the conures under the main area was tiny with 2 little conures shoved in it, it was so sad. It was way too small. They were also very expensive for a badly treated bird.I will say on a positive note that the food they were given (fresh bird chop) looked very nice. So at least they were well fed. That and the staff were all friendly and kind, nothing against them.

Although seeing the negative reviews on this place is saddening I have to say I’ve seen worse. There are plenty of other places with birds in absolutely horrendous conditions that are still in business.Although I’m all for adoption I have to say it sounds easy but it’s often not as the reasons behind some birds being abandoned can be complicated and handling them is often not for someone simply looking for a bird to join their family. There are plenty of birds that may suffer from “behavioural issues” and such that makes them extremely hard to handle and this results in many people abandoning these beautiful creatures.Although their prices on birds are high and I wouldn’t recommend anyone buying any animal without the proper knowledge of their care requirements I’m not going to leave a negative comment and instead all I’m going to say if you know you have the means of getting a bird then go for it, you never know when you meet the right one for your family…

Me and my friend visited the Ferntree gully store today and what we witnessed was very disturbing. They were selling many birds who looked distressed and some of them very sick. They were kept in small cages and their wings were deeply clipped.I have a reason to believe that this is animal cruelty due to the overcrowded small spaces they were kept in. The birds were screaming in distress and the pet store staff could not answer any questions related to their health that I had. I am not sure who the breeder is as they refused to answer this question as well.It makes me very sad that animal cruelty is still happening in Australia especially by a business such as this one.We felt very sad by what we witnessed and will not be purchasing a bird that has had to survive through these kinds of living conditions.Hopefully this helps others make the right choice when purchasing a bird as a pet and businesses need to show basic care for these innocent animals.!!!This needs to be reported to the RSPCA.

This is so sad to see people still breeding birds for profit. There are over 300 birds Currently in shelters across Melbourne because people are buying them from stores like yours and then surrendering them because they simply are not educated enough to be able to look after them. Do you tell your clients that their baby bird will likely outlive them ? Do you screen them to make sure they don't become neglected? Are they properly educated about the species of bird and the care and attention they constantly need?Do you tell them about the hundreds of birds in shelters that need rehoming and give them the option to adopt? If you really care about birds and their welfare then this is exactly what you should be doing.

I visited the Ferntree gully store on Saturday, excited to buy a hand tamed bird. your website states you charge $99 for non tamed, $199 for tamed and $299 for super friendly cockatiels. All the cockatiels there for $299 were not super friendly at all. they had their wings clipped so forced to stay there and though they didn't bite hard not a single one would step on my hand. all were hissing and backing away and trying to bite. One of them also looked very sick. everytime I asked about a bird from your staff they man-handled them and grabbed them quite aggressively to show them to me. I'm sorry, these are hand tamed birds you're charging a premium for? surely they should just step up on your hand and not have to be grabbed like that. honestly it was pretty disgusting and I felt so sorry for the birds there. i would never recommend this store to anyone who wants a truly friendly bird or who cares about the conditions they're kept in. I felt sick leaving the store.
