Stoney Creek Falls
The trail is odd at first, with lots of rocks along the path. But it doesn't last long that way. There are tons of pools along the river to go swimming it, allowing people to be spread out. We followed the path until it ended, then continued along the river. The water level was so low that we could walk on the river most of the way until we got to the train bridge near the big falls. A bit of scrambling and bouldering was required, so I do not recommend this option if you are alone or have no rock climbing experience, or if the water levels are higher. There were mango trees dropping delicious mangoes along the way as well.

Hiked here from stones creek car park.Very challenging at times with some very steep climbs up rock faces. The first time I tried to do it I got lost following the orange tags and ended up on the side of a cliff. So the second time I just followed the creek right up and I reached the falls. It’s also a beautiful swim underneath which is refreshing after a hard hike.

Was planning to head up to the hill. But we didn’t expect the way is that bumpy so we don’t have any proper gears with us. We decided to just stay in the the middle way for the water falls. The little on in between it looks boring but when you dived under. There is so many little shrimps and a turtle! The shrimps were all along the rock that was amazing!!!!!!

Great walk up the creek, and it certainly lives up to its name. I’d probably recommend trainers if you aren’t used to walking barefoot, can be a little challenging in flip flops (thongs).Lots of great places to jump in the pools along the way.

The falls up Stoney Creek are totally epic. But do not try and follow the water from the bottom near the car park (it will take hours and it’s a huge mission - take our advice lol)

Incredible waterfalls, but seriously, look the other way from the train and you still get spectacular views!

Dodge the Trains or Trek the Creek - Stony Creek falls are nothing sort of an epic Cairns Adventure. Option 1: take the Douglas Track and walk up the mountain and turn left to walk along the train tracks. Option 2: walk up Stony Creek from the car park and swim along the way. Either way, the walk is around an hour to make it to this waterfall. Views are lovely from the Douglas track walk for thrill seekers and having a place to cool off along the Stony Creek walk is an added bonus. I recommend walking up the creek and back along the Douglas Track way.

Stoney Creek Falls
Incredible falls which can be viewed either from the train ride or a hike up Stoney Creek. Did this as part of a circuit from Kuranda, Wrights Lookout and Glacier Rock. If going up the creek, be prepared for a fair bit of rock hopping. Yes you can walk down the train track for a while, but there’s a warning of a $3,000 fine and also a tunnel to go through.
