Firstly, I can’t fault the coffee, it is good. However, the nepotism in the customer service results in some customers being greeted warmly and others completely ignored. The problem with this nepotism is developing a predisposition to only treating chatty/mostly white/upper middle class people favourably; and ‘otherising’ people who do not fit this stereotype.I bring this up because my dark skinned partner who visits here is never acknowledged when he’s at the front of the queue, while she at least greets those in front of him until she can take their order. I get it’s a 1 person shop, but please try to work on treating everyone equally, whether it is ignoring them all or acknowledging them all.You may believe you don’t have an issue with classism or racial discrimination but it’s a deeply rooted issue in this neighbourhood. Please take a moment to reflect on this comment throughout the following weeks and try to do better.

Amazing coffee and service from Ellen. This was our local when we lived across the street. We still drive here whenever we can!

A simple coffee shop with great atmosphere and good coffeeThe coffee has a smooth and strong taste, and is not overbearing. Barista Ellen is skilled at the art of coffee making and the shop sells some nice sweets to have with your coffee. Definitely one of my favourite coffee stops.

My husband and I love coming here for our coffee and drinks. We aren’t locals but travel here whenever we can to get our fix of iced caramel lattes or soy chai lattes. Ellen always has a big smile on her face and gets along with everyone who orders coffee from Oliver James.
