Mount Sturgeon (Wurgarri)
Good walk, but a lot of rocky track. Worth the walk for the great view.Need to take about 1ltr of water, some energy snacks and at minimum wear runners. I wore Keen sandels that had excellent grip on the slippery rocks, and were great in sandy parts, as the sand just emptied out as I walked.I walk about 10 km a day, and found this helped. But, the rocky parts needed careful foot placement to not end up on your behind or worse, and were steep in parts. If it was wet, I would be very very careful. We found that Telstra and Optus had coverage each time we checked and took/uploaded photo's.Definitely recommend, and just take a picnic to stop along the way to break up the hard sections.

Not really enjoyable after being to the Grampians itself. The track is a bit rough and I don’t think it was worth spending all my energy to get to the top as the view is a bit disappointing.

A beautiful mountain with light to difficult walking track, some are step and rocky others are flat and manageable. The views at the top are inspiring, with the sleepy town of Dunkeld down below and endless sight in the distant horizon. As my partner said, 'who want to go back to Melbourne, this is the life than spending a lifetime working in the office'. During our walk up the top we saw some very large kangaroos. An advice for your safety, these beasts can retaliate and injury you. Best if you don't move until they leave the area. This is the only mountain that has the largest grey-brown kangaroos native to this area, they're similar in size to the great red kangaroo. We did 6 years exploring the Grampians, from the 2006 bushfires to 2012. A majestic place to holiday.

Yet to hike here but hot tip to travel just a short way out of Dunkeld (toward the SA border) and of a night time with clear skies the Grampians look stunning! Fantastic for astrophotographers out there! For more photos visit:Instagram: @wanderingandwilderness

Trail is pretty rocky and rough but a tough walk in the heat for a pretty nice view. 7km return and can take anywhere between an hour and 2 hours.

Southern most tip of the Grampians and just outside the township of Dunkeld. Great place to visit either as a starting point to the Grampians, or on your way to the next destination.
