South Passage - Adventure Under Sail

My 13 year old Son did a five day sailing trip (as part of a Scouts activity) and absolutely enjoyed every moment of it (right from the early morning watch duty at the deck, being at the helm of the ship, sailing techniques learnt, the homely meals, dolphins and finally the fantastic guidance and mentoring from the crew). It was an adventure of a lifetime indeed!!!

My daughter went on the cruise from Cairns, many years ago…she still talks about her 18th birthday present!! She is now 31 and tells my grandchildren they will be going for sure!

A wonderful day out sailing and learning. It was a joy to help with pulling the the sheets with the old block and tackle system. The crew although volunteers, where extremely professional and they created a relaxing environment. We were so impressed, Catherine & I will apply to join as volunteers. Thank you everyone for a memorable day out on the waters of Morton Bay.

After completing a 7 day Sail with Friends, where we sailed out of Townsville , I would highly recommend South Passage. We visited the Islands in that area for 7 days, walking to see spectacular vistas and waterfalls, swimming and snorkelling - the coral was amazing as were the fish and turtles. Seeing whales and dolphins, sea snakes and gorgeous sun sets and rises. The crew and volunteers made the journey good fun, and we met some terrific fellow ‘sailors’. The cook kept us all well fed too. A week to remember.

Highly recommended! Went for an afternoon/early evening cruise and had a blast! You can help on deck if you want to, the crew (mostly volunteers) were very knowledgeable and handled the ship very well!

I sailed with South Passage on a day sail today. We left the Marina at 10am, sailed across Moreton Bay and anchored off Moreton Island for lunch and a swim. It was a super day - Weather was perfect, sea was friendly, crew were brilliant and generous with their knowledge allowing you to be involved or not. I loved it and intend to do a long sail next time. Thank you to our skipper and the crew.

Fantastic ship and crew, beautiful day sail.Leisurely sail around the island and stopped for a nice swim. Cant recommend enough.Will do again next year.

Our group had a wonderful day of relaxed learning and experiencing Moreton Bay on Sunday 25th October. All the volunteers were willing to chat and explain the unique workings of aTall Ship. We could all be involved in some way. We had the best weather, heading out through the small and large sailing craft, it was sunny and windy enough to be exhilarated by the motion of the ship. The surprise was meeting Mermaid on the bow, safely harnessed and perched on netting at the front of the craft. Off Peel island we swam with leisure craft not too near by. We enjoyed our own shared food with our group, before the return journey during an afternoon storm. The crew handled everything capably and experiencing the elements without a care, was truly memorable. Thanks Crew!

I enjoyed a wonderful day sailing with South Passage! The Skipper and crew were so friendly and engaging. They went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a great time. You can be as involved as you want and help hoist the sails and steer or just sit back and relax and enjoy the day. I would love to do this trip again!
