CADEN Carbon Bike Wheels

What was a “disappointment” turned out to be an awesome pair of wheels. When I first ordered during the Covid period, it got cancelled due to lack of parts and of course logistical issues. 3 years on, I decided to contact Ben again to try my luck. Ben was quick with his replies and 1week after I made the order, I got them here in Singapore. Now that I’ve tested the wheels for a few rides, I’m ready to make my 2nd purchase. Just go with Decadence, you won’t regret them.

I purchased a set of Caden 49mm clincher rims and had them fitted by Ben. After an extensive period of time deciding on an upgrade to carbon wheels we chose Ben because of price, it is an Australian company and he had good reviews from the triathlon community.I can’t rate Ben and his business highly enough. Ben provided his complete and undivided attention when we took in the QR TT bike to fit the wheels to his Coogee based business. It took Ben two hours to set up the bike, but that included a number of adjustments and tests before he was happy with the bike’s setup. It is not uncommon for a TT rim break bike to take this long mainly due to the rear direct mount brake calliper. Something to consider when you buy any carbon wheels online and you fit them yourself. Ben also provided some great advice on topics of regular debate, such as tubules / clinchers and different tyre / tubes and tyre pressures.Ben provided a quick turnaround from when the wheels were ordered to setting up the bike as I had a race at Husky, I was all set to race that weekend. As for wheel performance, the wheels were comfortable to ride on over a half Ironman distance, on regional roads and the handling was good where I didn’t need to break my position on the aero bars and they felt fast on the flats and downhill compared to my alloy rims.

I bought a set of deCADENce 45mm tubeless wheels to replace my damaged stock alloy hoops. First set of carbon rims I've owned, so I don't have much to compare them to, but I have to say.... I love these wheels! I've put 1400km on them so far, both road riding (28mm slicks) and gravel tracks (38mm knobbly tires). They are light, stiff and responsive. Freehub and bearings are, so far, going great. I have a history of breaking spokes, cracking rims and blowing up freehubs. Time will tell if these wheels stand up to my abuse. However, the materials used and features of the wheels makeup suggest they will be more durable than my previous wheelsets. Given the price, you cannot go past these wheels for value compared to other brands in the same league.Ben was a pleasure to deal with. Always responsive to emails and full of tips to get the most out of the wheels.Looking forward to many more KMs riding on these wheels.

Its taken a while to write this review since putting these wheels on my bike. Ive been sick, working and Winter just got in the way. I have however now been out on 2 rides in very different conditions and am here to report my views.Bike; BMC Timemachine Road TMR01Wheelset; Decadence 59mm Front and 81mm Rear ( Disc )Brake Rotors; 160mm Front and 140mm Rear Caden DiscTerrain; Coastal Roads which are DEAD, gently rolling but always in the WINDCommunicating with Ben over the phone its easy to sense his passion and you very quickly get an understanding of the why behind his design and concept. Ben even discussed tyre pressures and was very specific about sizing also ( Run a 23mm up front )Receiving the wheel setWheels came very well packaged, and were protected adequately with out either skimping over doing it. The cardboard box was solid.Setting upTook about 10minutes to set them up as swapping bike wheels out is not just 'Plug and Play' Disc brake calipers need to be re-setRide 155km Elevation 205m Avg Speed 30.5kmphWind was howling in cross directionI really thought that the front end of my bike was going to behave more like a kite than a bike today and i was overly cautious. My previous 50mm DT Swiss Wheels were notorious for side ways movement.These wheels remained planted, and gave me confidence to pick up the pace a little. There were times when breaks in the road furniture created a little panic but nothing out of control. The rear end remained super stable. The tyre pressure and 23mm Tyre up front was super noticeable. I expected it to feel more like riding through custard in the back and harsh up front. In actual front, the tyre pressure dampened the bumps and it allowed me to keep the bike in a straight line as much as possible due to the wind.Overall, I was super impressed with what I experienced on this day.Ride 297km Elevation 423m Avg Speed 33.1kmphCold, but happy to see the end of winterVery little wind today so the speed was up.The most noticeable thing about the wheels today was the sound when you put down the power. There was this wooshing sound which sounded just like the the Lightweight Wheels some of the others in the bunch ride.Solid feel, rapid acceleration.Cannot rate them for how they may behave in the hills as there is very little around here to give that comparison at the moment.Visually the wheels look amazing and the attention to detail is impressive. The Spoke Lacing is unusual but I understand why after researching it and discussing with Ben.Small issueI did expect to receive Valve extenders for the wheels but no real issue. I did have some in my spares. However, my valve extenders are a smooth barrel and the rattle between the extender and the rim was driving me nuts. problem solved but placing a piece of electrical tape over the valve extender and sticking it down on the rim. It was cut to a circle so is very much hidden and discreet.Overall, I really think Ben, his team, his brand, his passion and his product deserves a 5 star rating. Comparing them to both my DT Swiss laced to DT Swiss 180 Hubs, and my Zipp 303 laced to Chris King hubs, I believe the Decadence wheels nudge out the others on many fronts.Do yourself a favor, support local and get the very best product out there. These wheels are making the big dogs take a serious look at what they bring to the table.

My first set of deep carbon wheels, look great, feel fast, light, great handling even with cross winds and sexy sounding rear hub. Great service, communication and knowledge from Ben. Very happy rider.

Just received a pair of deCadence 45 tubeless and have been riding for a few weeks. They are stiff, smooth, balanced, true, and fast. I have reset PB's on all frequently ridden routes. They climb, maintain speed, accelerate with a solid and fast feeling. The brake track is incredibly good. No, great. No, awesome!Riding these wheels is really fun. I kinda feel like I'm cheating, like I bought speed without working for it. I think I'll get over this.Everything Ben said was/is true.A very happy customer,Carl NKC

I'm happy to finally write a review on Caden Wheels. Ive just bought my third set of Cadens, these being 49 disc clinchers (still using one set of 38s rim brake , one set of 38 disc) which demonstrates my confidence in the quality, service and reliability of the product and of course in the company. In my experience, Ben is always happy to impart and share just some of his enormous technical knowledge when asked. The attention to detail in the wheels is certainly impressive. It’s also comforting to get prompt service and attention for spares locally and that includes Melbourne. Beyond all that, it’s actually refreshing to have a good chat to a good bloke who is happy to stand by his product. I can only highly recommend Caden Wheels.

Amazing service, fabulous wheels, and a fantastic person doing it all.When i was looking for a set of wheels a friend said have you heard of CADEN wheels. I hadn’t. I looked up reviews and was amazed at the rating. I rang Ben, sorted out wheel. I realised the ratings are all true to every word. The service is outstanding, the wheels are superb, the advice is accurate. They are Smooth, fast, light and fantastic to ride. I replaced a set of rovals and these deCadenc wheels are heaps better, and beautiful to ride.Fast forward a few months I had an accident.l damaged the back wheel. Rang Ben to see if we can repair. He says “bring in and we will look after it for you”. Ben repaired it on a public holiday totally free of charge. Amazing service and true to his word.CADEN wheels get a 5 start rating….I can 100% vouch for it. My experience has been a total reflection of all the comments and reviews.These are amazing wheels from someone who knows all about wheels. They are great value and amazing quality. Bought a set of deCADENce 38mm clinchers(disc) after enjoying rim brake version for 4years. 2 real strong points for me are how well the wheels roll and the lack of lateral deflection makes descending so much better. Came of syncros capital 1.0 wheels and the improvement in rolling efficiency is noticeable. Side bonus using tubes and changing tyres from a tubeless ready rim is 100 times quicker. Would happily buy again.

Caden Wheels are awesome, fast and at a great price. I’ve had mine for 6 years now and they have never let me down. The service from Ben when I’ve made enquiries is second to none.
