We had a very pleasant gin tasting then a couple of cocktails here and absolutely loved the experience. A beautiful location, friendly helpful staff and a delicious product. The settlers breakfast gin is absolutely amazing, probably my favourite gin. Keen to go back for sure!

Entering Settlers Spirits is like walking through a friend’s front door . ( A friend with a bar!) Small batch spirits that are served with a smile. The staff are welcoming and quite chatty , and willing to answer questions.I also like the fact that they are quite adventurous with their flavours - you could buy a few different gins and pair them with each course if you were to host a dinner party , instead of wine. The stairs near the car park is quite steep ( it’s situated at the top of a hill. I’d recommend not wearing heels if you came , but the view is simply stunning !You can either sit inside or out on the deck in the sun, where they have shaded umbrellas .They do have mocktails , as well as cocktails, but I just did a gin flight . If you prefer to mix and match the gin to your our taste , it is a nice change . Staff will also kindly recommend gins if you tell them what sort you prefer .I was told that they have a partnership with d’Arenberg winery now and they make their own tonic water , which is on tap behind the bar. To be honest , I could just drink this by itself , it has a lovely fresh taste . My friend , who doesn’t drink, or really like tonic water , said it was very tasty and polished it off .I had the Coriander Gin , which they distill with the seed as well as the leaves . If you like Coriander I really recommend this one .I also tasted the Sloe Gin, which is a real labour of love! It is made with slow berries from Tasmania, and steeped for about 4 months , and they turn it every single day . It’s a wonderful gin if you like yours on the sweeter side .My favourite though, is the Breakfast Gin , with tea , honey and lemon . Definitely worth buying a bottle of this !Wonderful place to relax - if you like it quieter , go during the week and you can relax for a while , away from the crowds .

6 of us walked in 4.10pm. Closes at 5. Was told by staff they didn’t have time for tasting before they closed. We purchased a glass of our choice each. At 4.45 5 guys walked in (obviously friends of the staff) who were treated to numerous espresso martinis each with more being prepared. Reconsidered my purchase of 2 bottles ($85 each) spiced gin & breakfast gin.

I visited for the first time yesterday. What a gorgeous location and view! Not loving gin that much I was a bit concerned I wouldn't enjoy it but I was very wrong! Alicia talked me through the range to help me decide on a tasting flight which was beautifully presented in gorgeous glassware with an array of herbs and fruits to enhance the experience. Who knew...I'm a gin convert! The range is astounding. I would love to go back and taste more. We had a cheese platter on the lawn in the sun and the junior staff were also lovely looking after us all too!

After discovering a new local SA Gin we decided to go check it out in person. Settlers Distillery cellar door consists of a lovely tasting room boasting a modern feel but perfectly complimenting the beautiful scenery and bringing it indoors. The distillery offers tastings of each Gin complimented with garnishes for $5 each which is sadly not taken off any take home bottles you purchase. Very knowledgeable staff member provided us with an in-depth understanding of the gins they produce.

Nice friendly staff. Very welcoming and always smiling. A great range of gins and the tonic paired beautifully with it. We had a lovely experience. But beware if you are wearing high heels, there is quite a steep walk from the car park to the entrance. And I would not recommend to go in larger groups than 6 as the venue is quite small. It would be great if the gins were available in mini bottles or packs of 400ml-600ml so I could purchase and try the full range - as there was quite a good selection. It would also be a great gift. The seating arrangement is quite awkward I must admit. If you are in a small group of 3-5, then you’d probably be seated around a coffee table lounge - which is quite low in terms of height. Great setting for coffee but not so much gin tasting. Music, some light nibbles and appropriate height tables and chairs would make this experience slightly more delightful. But overall, it was my favourite gin tasting experience because they had a wonderful range of gins and the kind staff. Definitely would recommend to come visit if you’re in SA.
