Great exhibition showing Australia's music history. A highlight is an enclosed room showing various clips of performances at Sunbury and Countdown clips amongst others. Memorabilia and other screens with headphones describing processes in the music industry often by artists themselves. It's free and well worth the visit at Melbourne's Arts Centre.

Awesome collection of exhibitions for those that love music & music culture. It's well worth a visit, and it's free. The exhibitions change frequently. When I visited in Jan 2023, there were at least 6 different sections/displays - each had a different focal point for some part of Australian Music, and included memorabilia, artifacts, history and culture. The two sections that really stood out for me were the displays on MESS (Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio) and SLAM (Save Live Australian Music). It would be worth visiting for these alone. It's not a particularly big gallery, but it is very well put together. You could easily visit this during your lunch break, and just as easily lose two hours in there as I did.

Listen to Billy Thorpe (12 bars of thumping blues) at Sunbury circa 1974, or the organisers of The Slam about their campaign on live music. Hear Tash Sultana signing a love song about not wanting so badly. The music vault is a live treasure with small vids on the blossoms of Australian music live. I didn’t find it but it would be good to hear ac/dc belting out a tune.

This is a small but interesting museum for anyone who is an Australian music fan at all. It doesn't take long to go through but it has some quality items and exhibitions. It is a worthwhile quick visit and something to do for free if you are in the area.

Great display of Australian music memorabilia (stage outfits, instruments etc) and the posters advertising gigs certainly takes me back to the hey day of Aussie music, the 1980's!! Let's face it the bands of today can't compare to icons such as AC/DC, INXS, The Divinyls, The Angels The Models, Icehouse, Jimmy Barnes, Midnight Oil, Olivia Newton-John and John Farnham. You can stop at different points and hear snippets of music and you can also see clips of gigs such as the famous (or infamous) Sunbury gig. Go along to revisit some great memories and support Aussie music.

A good display & free to enter...I would've paid a small fee to see this. Takes about 90 mins to see everything... Do yourself a favour!
