Gloucester Tree
It's a great iconic piece of history to see in Pemberton. The tree was used as a fire lookout tower. You need to pay an entry fee into the National Park or use your annual WA Park pass. The Gloucester tree is a difficult challenge to climb. One that is a test on fear of heights or fear of falling. 58m climb straight UP, having only steel rods to hold onto. Many choose NOT to climb it, but l did (I'm 52). View at the top is obstructed by the ever growing canopy of trees. But great to see.The 3 walks around the area are good. I did 2, but l didn't do the 10km one.

Great place if you want to be close with nature and to see majestic views. I think more safety features can be added to encourage more people to climb but it's all good if you have a good grip and careful footing.

I went there on a Saturday morning and decided to go up at a slow pace and stop as I needed. It was really good experience and really nice views from the top. It gets windy up there but doesn't feel unsafe at all from the platform.I recommend proper shoes to feel comfy all the way.

It is a lovely place to walk around even though cannot climb the tree. It is no longer safe to climb anymore if you talked to the park ranger instead of making judgment by self. There is a national park fee required. If you have the annual national park pass, then you are good to go like us. We got lots of information from the lady from the entrance.

This was fun for kids. We arrived early Sunday morning and were the only ones there. Keep in mind you will need a Parks pass to enter . It was fun for us. Upper half is closed so you can't climb to the top, it's quite high, so it is at your own risk .

Great climbing adventure! I am happy that they kept it basic with metal pegs and some mesh rather than upgrading" to a safe Gucci tourist climbing highway. As of the Q&A there have never been a fatality from climbing but two heard attacks after returning to ground."

Beautiful place to visit. A lovely short walk. Ample places to picnic and a large undercover area too. Unfortunately the tree is closed for maintenance a lot

Ok, how hard could this be I thought. Well apparently I have developed a rational fear of heights or at least a fear of climbing 50m ladders wrapped around a tree. In a world of OHS, how is this tree allowed. No matter how brave you think you are, this tree will test you. I only got a quarter of the way up tree when I chickened out. With that said, the 70 year old man coming up after me, flew up the tree like he was on an escalator.

So much fun, if you are alright with heights then your going to be able to climb the tree and see the view from up on the platform. If heights are not your thing there are plenty of lovely walk trails and a spot to have a BBQ.

Awesome experience climbing this giant. Quite dangerous for younger ones as the gap between the steps is wide enough to fall through. Wouldn’t recommend unless your physically fit and confident at heights. The experience and view are quite awesome though!
