Ballarat Miners Retreat Motel

Absolutely loved our stay here and will return. The bed was a super king! The sheets were crisp, and the quilt was comfy. The bathroom was updated and modern. The shower was adjustable, and the water instantly hot. There was a desk to work at and a small table to eat at. No road noise. Check-in and check out were easy.

*edit* thanks for your response, I’ve added a star but still think you could have heaters that are easily controllable by the guests. I stay in a lot of motels for work and have always had the control in the room and an electric blanket. I also don’t understand why there’s no cutlery in the room. I would give that 5 stars. Thanks. I’m sure I’ll see you again! :)I’ve stayed in the motel twice now. It’s a nice room, very nice shower and big comfy bed. But why don’t you allow guests to control the heater?? It says it’s set to 21 in summer and 24 in winter. It’s currently autumn and 11 degrees outside and quite cold in the room. I don’t know what the aircon is set to but either way it’s blowing cold air.I understand you don’t want guests to leave it on all day but at the same time, we’re paying $125 for the night, we should have access to basic comforts.There’s also no electric blanket like most other motels.If there was a heater, and maybe also some cutlery, I would give 5 stars.

Nice little spot, clean and modern. Had enough power points for a few chargers. Close to town but quiet.

Arrived late and had my key put in the safe for me, staff assisted me on getting the key and were very friendly and eager to help. Rooms are always clean and tidy hence why I always choose to stay here. Side note - Will send you an email about the heater in room 103, had a strange smell when on but apart from that enjoyed my stay. Very happy will be back

The largest queen bed I have seen in a motel. The bathroom was clean and modern.

Had a great stay at the miners retreat. Large clean room, very comfortable super king-size bed with fresh crisp linen, LCD TV, whisper quiet air-conditioning. Modern well appointed clean bathroom with fresh fluffy towels. Zero road noise. Attentive staff with a seamless check-in.

This is a great motel and sensational value for money. The owners were very friendly and made a lot of effort to make our stay as comfortable as possible. It is very central to everything Ballarat has to offer, whilst still being very quiet and having a relaxing environment. The Eureka pool, museum, playground and park land are very close and my children enjoyed visiting those places.

Please do NOT stay here.Firstly, the bed is incredibly uncomfortable and the pillows are terrible.Secondly, the room cleaning, or lack there of is disgusting. Their information booklet states to place your towels on the shower floor for changing, we did this & they were not changed, the room was not cleaned & the bin was not emptied. The property were aware that we had a young baby with us therefore we would clearly have nappies but did not even enter our room. There is no large dumpster where we could even dispose of our own rubbish. The room that the property allocated us was very dusty. I have taken photos of the dusty areas & there were several. It appears the property believe that if the guest cannot see it then it is not required to be cleaned. This includes shelves where guests would put their belongings. If a person was prone to respiratory issues, this would not be a property to stay. There were empty beer cans around the property on tables and and empty beer bottle in the wall mounted flower pots. We did see cleaning staff outside the room next to us therefore we vacated the room so they would have privacy to clean our room but there was no cleaning.Thirdly, the noise, where do I start, there were guests 2 doors down with Harley davidsons, normally absolutely no issue, however, returning at midnight and revving their engines (and waking up our 6 month old). Not just arriving and parking but revving engines for several minutes, the second night, 10pm, the same guests were outside very noisily fixing their motorbikes, this was extremely loud, again, waking up our 6 month old. I believe the guest next did request that they move their motorbike from outside his room when they parked their at 10pm. The walls are incredibly thin, we could hear the guests next door talking and the taps are so noisy that we could hear the guests next door using their taps.Fourthly, the room was damaged upon arrival. Missing light fixtures, damaged wardrobe, holes in the walls.Finally, due to 'short staffing' the motel was unstaffed reception wise on the Saturday. Therefore there was no person that we could contact to raise issues with. There was a number which we rang twice however it went to 'this call cannot he connected'.We do intend on placing these issues with the property today.Unfortunately I have to give them a 1 star review as a star is required. They would be receiving zero stars.Please do not stay here.

Beds - GreatBathroom - GreatService - Just OK - Dirty Linen was left outside my room (129) for the whole day and I brought it back in that night.Room has Toaster & Microwave but NO Plates, Knives or Forks?Carpets - DISGUSTING, FILTHY, UN-VACUUMED, STAINED, DIRTY, FADED. ***MUST REPLACE IMMEDIATELY.

We booked what was described as a bungalow. What we got was a rundown poorly maintained and poorly equipped caravan park type cabin. . 6 of us booked in 4 stools supplied to sit on. No chairs. The cabin was not clean, bread left by the last occupiers was still in the cupboard.We spoke to staff who unfortunately didn’t speak English so really got nowhere. The shower would not turn off and the manager advised this non urgent so would not be fixed until after the long weekend.There was mould in the bedroom area. Never again.
