I’d say a little pricey for two regular cocktails, a small plate of “calamari” and a dessert, where you also fetch your own cutlery and water from a table stand. The calamari seemed more like pub style fried squid than Italian style fried calamari. The place has a nice atmosphere.

Not as good as I remember? No table service, you have to order at a jam-packed bar (and no QR codes? Get with the times please!!?!?) Food was pretty good, service was lacklustre. If all you're doing is bringing it to my table, (minus cutlery, napkins, side plates and water glasses) then you can at least bring it to the correct table?!!!!? There's plenty of other (read: better) places to eat and hang out at along this strip of road. Choose anyone of them!

Wow what a cool place, awesome decor and vibe. From the minute we walked in we were greeted by a lovely young lady that was happy to see us and show us to a reserved table that we requested if one become available (this was a great upgrade from a seat at the bar but we would of still loved that) Food is terrific, all the staff are friendly and customer focused. Great Cocktails and wine. Awesome music from a DJ on Technics decks. We will be back absolutely loved it!

We visited Melbourne for a long weekend and stayed in Thornbury - very spoilt for choice of restaurants - stumbled across Joanie's and we weren't disappointed - great food and excellent service - thank you - we'll be back!!

Trendy local wine bar with food that really does taste homemade. Great for a wine or 2 and the music does get pumping from 7pm on a Saturday night.It's not a place for chit-chat as it can be loud but the atmosphere was nice and the semi outdoor area at the back with twinning grapevines is very cosy and relaxing.Toilets are unisex but very clean.

We popped in here in a whim while out exploring Thornbury and were so glad we did. Great authentic vibe, friendly service behind the bar, birra moretti on tap, and delightful applies were all had. Will absolutely be back to sample more of the menu in future.

Disappointed to say the least. Meatballs were dry, Arancini were hard and tasteless and the Olive Ascolane had pips. We were served the food and the wait staff left even though it was clear we didn't have plates and cutlery. Had to go and find out what was the deal... informed they were in a central spot and to grab our own (no issues other than the fact we were not told from the beginning...nor when we were served our food...basic customer service). Our drinks were taken to the wrong table (walked right past us) and returned to the bar without even asking us if these were our order???? Thank goodness the Joanie's Sours we're good...although full of ice. Communication is all that is required here (and maybe some better recipes...but that's just a personal taste thing).
