We visited this restaurant during our great ocean road tour, we stayed around 600m away. There are quite a few restaurants nearby. Having read the reviews here I was skeptical to come here but my friends still insidted to try Indian dinner.It wasnt as bad a reviews. Though food wasnt very good but it wasnt bad either.I would rate 3/5 on taste4/5 for service ( they would regularly come to ask to crosscheck if we need something)4/5 ambience5/5 location of restaurant. Near to ocean and hotels. Lots of parking nearby.Rice 1Paneer malai 1Chana masala 1Garlic naan 4Tandoori roti 2 costed us 100+$They have 10% surcharge on weekends

Don't believe the very recent star reviews- I belief that there is an agenda of vindictiveness against the owners.We had a meal last night that is the equal if not better than many in Melbourne. I had a nice size portion of Kadhri beef with tender pieces of meat. My partner had a vegetarian dish with home made cheese that were delicious. A tip for Westerners: ask for a mild! The garlic naan was very good. Prices are just a little dearer than what we would normally expect.What is a little strange is that you order your food and drinks at the bar and pay for it then. Maybe it is because of a lack of hospitality workers that it is down that way? But another tip is to write down your order at the table before going to the bar, especially if there is a group of you.Lastly, they charge 10% more on weekends and PH, but then a lot of eating places in Apollo Bay do so.

Rude! Very unmotivated and rude Service. Crazy expensive and the portions are not huge. We paid 68 $ for what you see on the picture. We had no Drinks.We even got checked whether we brought alcohol into the Restaurant. He did not even apologise afterwards for the confusion! Rude would not recommend at all.

My mum and I came here tonight and couldn’t be happier! They were very busy so there was a little bit of a wait but the food was so worth it. Definitely the best Indian food we have ever had, and we grew up eating this cuisine! Would 10000%%% recommend. Don’t be strayed by the bad reviews. Try it for yourself.

Absolutely delicious. We got the butter chicken and beef madras, rice and garlic naan. To die for! Can't wait to come back and try the whole menu :) Also, the staff were perfectly accommodating and friendly.

Super expensive! We ordered a curry and few breads and we were shocked when we had to pay $99! For a second, we did convince ourselves thinking it would be worth the taste, but wait no! there was nothing special in fact the paneer didn’t even taste fresh.Please save your money!

Although the food was great, I was mortified with the kind of customer service the restaurant appears to have. When ordering, the person taking the order mentioned how all their food will be served within 5 minutes, upon mentioning how I was in a hurry on the account of my bus leaving. After 15 minutes when the food had not arrived, I went up to the counter only to be told very harshly how “I was wasting his time by going up there” and how “he can’t help me if my bus leaves”.Utterly disgusted by this man’s behavior- (he was not wearing a name tag), will never be visiting Masala Bay and will definitely ask my friends and family not to.

The portion size is ridiculously small compared to the price of food but it can be seen as a good thing the food was not tasty at all. On top of that the server was very rude too as he thought he was doing customers a favour by working and serving them. The food wasn’t tasty as well so I will not recommend this restaurant.

We had chicken tikka masala, vegetable korma, rice and garlic bread.It was excellent, as good as we have had anywhere. Generous serves, hot (temperature), mild (as requested).Service was efficient and courteous. Slightly pricey, but we’ll definitely return when next in Apollo Bay.

Fantastic onion bhaji and garlic naan. Main meals were delicious, fresh and aromatic.I'm not sure what the go is with all the negative reviews however this place is great. Vindaloo was better than. Anything I have had in Melbourne whilst the Saffron rice was next level!Only the two blokes working for the Thursday night but there was no delay on our order nor was there any effect on the standard of customer service. We'll be going back for another meal before we leave.
