Shutterbug Walkabouts Tasmania

I booked a day & a half tuition session with Coreena from Shutterbug Walkabouts Tasmania with the intention to familiarize myself with my camera and learn some techniques to use when taking shots of moving water. Coreena was just terrific, but more importantly a great tutor.I learned so much in a short amount of time.With my full day session, Coreena even provided a picnic lunch which was very thoughtful. We spent most of the day up and around Mt Wellington in Hobart. As well as learning about photography and which buttons do what on my Nikon 3300, I was treated to a guided tour of some lovely areas of our Southern most capital city.I highly recommend Shutterbug Walkabouts and am very grateful for this wonderful experience.

The assistance by Coreena, in setting up my class was wonderful even in this Covid time and everything went smoothly. It was well worth travelling from NSW for this opportunity. Roy was on time and he was very willing to share all of his experience and give tips and tricks" to assist me in the future. Roy was very relaxed which also helped me to relax I really enjoyed my one on one session. For some time now I have wanted to utilise macro photography techniques and now thanks to Roy

We loved every moment of our photography tour with Coreena. Coreena taught us so much about the camera and photography more generally. I wanted my 16 yo daughter to get a head start on using her camera before she embarks on her Grade 11 photography class at school. Coreena took my daughter under her wing, spent individual time with her, asked her questions and showed a genuine interest in wanting to help her.Coreena is so friendly and easy to talk to. Our lunch, which was prepared by Coreena, was absolutely delicious. It was also extremely helpful to be picked up and dropped off at our own location by Coreena. Her vehicle is great and absolutely spotless.For any Hobart locals with a child who has an interest in photography I couldn't recommend a tour with Coreena more highly. She is a wonderful teacher!

I did a private night photography class with Roy in Hobart. I have some experience with photography and he was able to adjust to my skill level and provide me with the exact information suited to me. Roy was accommodating to my mobility issues getting around Hobart. Particularly useful was going through adjustments using aperture priority, a setting I had forgotten how to use. I was able to achieve clear and pretty photographs in low light conditions. Tips for composition were also highly appreciated. Would love to attend another class.

I recently had the pleasure of travelling to Flinders Island, Tasmania with Coreena, on a 5 day photography tour. This was one of the best value tours you can imagine, with someone who is very skilled with the camera and a talented teacher. I came away with a much better understanding of the technical issues involved as well as how to be more creative. The hospitality provided was also top class.

What an amazing day! We went to Maria Island in February with Shutterbug and I can't recommend them enough. Coreena has been a tour guide for quite some time and it is apparent. She is a wealth of knowledge on a variety of topics and is sure to educate and entertain your group the whole day. Nice, clean car, great photo suggestions, really lovely packed lunch, flexible itinerary based on your interests - she covers all the details! From America, as a photographer, we chose Shutterbug Walkabouts to lead us in our adventure of Tasmania. It was a wise choice. Coreena was very knowledgeable about the flora, wildlife, and incredible history of this beautiful country. Every one of our days was a new adventure, ending in lodging that was an adventure of their own. i.e. hand-feeding wallaby's, searching for glo-worms, . . . Thank you, Shutterbug. If only we had another month.

“In November I spent 5 days on a womens only retreat to Flinders Island with Coreena from Shutterbug Walkabouts. I have spent many years with a great camera that I never really understood how to use. It was frustrating that my photographs never gave a good representation of what my eye would see. After 5 days with Coreena I am seeing a marked improvement in the end result and a better understanding of composition. I had never spent the time getting up early for sunrises and waiting for the sunsets and what a difference the light makes. To top it off I walked away from Flinders Island having fallen in love with the landscape and being amazed by the accomodation, the company and the food. You will not regret participating in this womens only photography experience.”

In March 2022 with my friend Helen I had the great pleasure of spending a long weekend with Coreena on Bruny Island. I have been a long time user of a camera but often on automatic settings, and I have been seriously birding for 9 years, and I saw this weekend as an opportunity for both. I was not disappointed. Coreena encouraged me to use the features of the camera which will give more control over the picture. This has also given me the confidence to explore the manual and understand what it offers, I sometimes go into brain fade if things get too technical. The scenery and birding on Bruny Island of course is a delight, it was not my first visit but I was pleased to visit Bruny Peninsula and the lighthouse. Apart from matters technical, Coreena provided very good company and exceptionally good vegetarian food for us. It was a totally enjoyable and profitable weekend. To top it off, the day after the tour Helen and I visited Mt Wellington and enjoyed the sight of several scrubtits flitting across a path in the bush. This was the last remaining endemic for me. So I thoroughly recommend the Shutterbug Ladies Only experiences. (Brenda Parkinson)
