Old Paney Homestead
Fascinating history to this old homestead which was built in the 1800’s. Sad story regarding William Crawford. It was cool to see the old oven in the kitchen. We were surprised that the house was open so we were able to look around inside. The dog’s quarters still remain there, they were provided for the working dogs. We spent quite awhile walking around here, reading all the historical details.

Located in the Gawler Ranges the old Homestead is locked and cannot be entered.There are numerous old relics of the sheep station and old dog huts you can see. There are also some short hikes (easy to medium) that you can start from here.Absolutely wonderful scenery of the Gawler Ranges can be seen from the track but you need to walk to get a real view of the Ranges and the starkly beautiful rocky range.
