Be wary of scope and technical complexity of project agreed to with this contractor. When I raised doubt as to the final appearance of an internal stud timber wall which was very crooked - and one needs for gyprock to be able to be properly fitted - I was ridiculed and contractor refused to finish the job leaving me with an incomplete and very crooked wall frame that would never support gyprock walls to any acceptable standard of finish. I was ridiculed and the excuses used were that the house was far from straight (what house is) and timber was bowed (what timber is 100% straight). And that had I wanted an acceptable finish I should have asked for a show wall"... I have ample photo proof of just how bad it was. I also had 2 electricians who were gobsmacked at the frame when visiting to quote/rough in electricals - so it was not just me having "too high expectations". I dare say that the fact that the contractor decided to simply abandon the job leaving me completely stuffed speaks in favour of mine - and the other trades' interpretation that this frame wall was indeed not fixable to enable an acceptable end result. 80% of it has had to be pulled back down again to start over."
