Irukandji Shark & Ray Encounters

Was great experience - definitely a dont miss experience if you are in nelson bay area. Was not cheap - and we only paid for the minimum - but there was no time limit so we felt we got good value. Importantly the place was clean, wetsuits clean and dry and showers had hot water. Unclear why people downgraded their rating because there is no food avail there (???) really ? There is a small gift shop and a few snacks avail there but don't come expecting a cafe - come for the rays and sharks and the great experience.

Had so much fun with the rays and sharks. The staff had so much knowledge and very good at ensuring the animals safety. I could have spent the whole day there listening to the various talks, asking questions and hanging out with the marine life.

What an amazing place! The staff were so kind to let me in just before closing and still gave me the best experience even in such a short time. The guy working with the sharks clearly loves his job and cares for these animals a lot. He had some pretty cool facts about them too

What an amazing place and a great way to learn about and meet the predators of the sea - the sharks and sting rays. Coming close to them and feeling their smooth scales all in a safe environment is such a beautiful experience i have never had before. I believe the photos on the website don't do justice to the beauty that lies to experience, a must visit for everyone visiting Nelson Bay.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING !!!! My partner and I booked the reef shark snorkelling experience and were so excited and our expectations were well and truly exceeded! We were there for over 5 hours going back and forth between the different lagoons, feeding and patting all sorts of shark and rays. It is so hands on and such an incredible experience and all the staff are so lovely and knowledgeable and it's clear to see that they deeply care for each and every animal and their conservation. We gained so much knowledge and insight and had the most unforgettable experience.

Our family had an outstanding time here the other day. We lost track of time and spent most of the day enjoying talking to the staff about the sharks and rays. All the staff here were super friendly and you could tell they love what they do. There were cubicles to change into/out of wetsuits and a sitting area by the gift shop. There is no cafe, but we had packed a picnic and enjoyed sitting in the shade talking about all the fun we had.Definitely will be returning here with our friends and family from overseas.

The team at Irukandji Shark and Ray Encounters were all so friendly and warm. Their expert knowledge of all things marine shines through, each of the sessions was so interesting and informative.As a very inexperienced salt water goer, they demystified so many aspects of sharks and rays.The snorkeling session I did with the sharks was life changing for me. I confronted my fears in a very safe and comfortable environment with guide Jared right beside me.Highly recommend.

Make sure you have the right place as there are 2 shark and ray centres and our car nav system took us to the incorrect one. This one does not have a butterfly house and is on Jessie Rd. We did the shark reef snorkel (20 mins) and it was awesome. The price also includes many other experiences including feeding the rays, sharks and the baby bamboo sharks. The staff were very knowledgeable and you can see how much they care for the animals. They were really helpful and friendly. They also a contribute to the STAR program of breeding zebra sharks and returning them to endangered areas. We loved patting the zebra and grey nurse sharks. Great value for money. The hot showers after our snorkel were heaven. The Mexican van out the front was delicious for lunch. Definitely recommend this experience if you are in the area.

Personally i would like to thank Liana for taking great care of my wife first time experiencing with shark encounters she had a ball, such a great time with Ikarundji Shark Encounter and thank you to the entire team at Irukandji Shark & Ray Encounters at Anna Bay.
