CERES Permaculture & Bushfood Nursery

Drove 45 minutes to buy some pea straw, plants and soil. They always have pea straw but not today. When I asked staff she told me no pea straw and I should have rang first, I agreed and then she said unfortunately in life not everything is available on tap. I walked out didn't want to buy anything at all I drive another 45 minutes home feeling very disappointed.

Great little nursery! Good place to buy native tube stocks for a very reasonable price. Friendly staff and a nice Cafe next door.

I hoped to have a more positive CERES visit than past experiences. But while always appreciating its functions, plant range and group educational offerings, once again I found that CERES staff appeared self-absorbed and lacking customer courtesy. Today, we had to look for staff to make a drinks order. Someone finally came out of a room behind the counter, went immediately over to a colleague to do something on a clipboard without acknowledging us, and then started chatting with them. We had to interrupt the conversation to ask whether they were taking orders, something we hate having to do. No-one wants to be demanding. What had we done wrong? Were we a nuisance? Perhaps we don't have the right 'look' to merit the friendly service that's extolled in other Google reviews? It's a shame.

Always get what I need and usually manage to learn a thing or two while I'm there, a great place to visit.

Why are the nursery staff so miserable. Surely CERES is an amazing place to work. It just becomes such an unpleasant experience. I'll think again about renewing my membership.

Fantastic range of plants with a strong focus on food plants. Huge range of fruiting trees. They also have a very good selection of Australian natives as well. In the store there's an excellent range of books, tools and other garden accessories. The staff are very welcoming and happy to help.

Cheap and nice part in here,and a wide parking,easy find .(the plat is much cheaper than other stores 5-10$)

Amazing spot to chill out with friends. Close to the city. Love to see the happy free range hens having a good life! Will come back for a cup of coffee next time

A very impressive collection of sustainable enterprises, cafes, markets, gardens and playgrounds and lots of shady spots to sit and soak it all in.Located along the Merri creek, and with parking just off Nicholson St (end of #96 tram line), there are many options to get to Ceres: bikes, walking, car, tram or bus.The cafe has fresh food, and coffees, plus refills for your the most sustainable of households.
