Patrick Ryan Maths Tutoring

My son changed schools in year 9. He went from being in the extension math class getting A and B grades at a public high school to below 50% consistently in a middle grade class at a private school. In crept anxiety and stress in a child that had never suffered either.....we had Patrick recommended to us. Patrick identified learning gaps and together with the school information and talking with my son, Patrick came up with a workable learning plan over the school holidays to get my son up to speed for year 10. Patrick was professional, reasonable, flexible and with his learning plan my son has not only caught up but is nailing year 10! Patrick has him working, leaning and most of all excited about learning math again! Patrick is hard to get into but worth the wait and effort......

I started doing weekly digital sessions of tutoring with Patrick near the end of year 11, and I've kept it up right through until two days before my maths HSC. Maths isn't really my strong suit so Pat had his work cut out for him, but I have risen from like the bottom few of my class to a solid rank just above the middle.More importantly I actually know what I'm doing and why I'm doing it, instead of just rote learning what I'm supposed to do. This is because Pat's teaching style includes explaining the maths as you do it, and then getting you to explain it back to him, just to make sure you really do get it. He also uses a whiteboard to illustrate what he's talking about, which works really well for me because I find things way easier to understand when they're drawn out in front of me.Pat is also, very kindly, quite flexible when it comes to timetabling our sessions. If I was unable to attend a session due to other commitments, it was not an issue, and he was also willing to increase the number of sessions per week in the run up to the HSC. Within sessions, he is also very flexible. On multiple occasions, I've told him a topic I'm particularly struggling with and he's gone through a crash course that catches me up to my peers in class, but he will also go through practice papers with you, explaining the questions you're stuck on.Patrick is a legend and though I don't like maths I do like Patrick.

I have been getting tutored weekly by Pat since about Year 9 (now year 12 about to sit my HSC), which has dramatically assisted me throughout my advanced maths journey through his casual yet reliable approach to tutoring. Pat's sessions are not intimidating, unlike some other tutors I have encountered, which has allowed me to feel comfortable asking any sort of question no matter how dumb they seemed, to which he was always willing to explain/clarify for me and suggest alternate methods of explanation or working. Overall I couldn't have found a better tutor to help me through the past few years and neither will you :)

Pat was recommended to as a tutor for our daughter who is in year 9. As we have not engaged with a tutor service before it was important for our daughter to feel comfortable with her tutor. From day 1 Pat made our daughter so relaxed about her learning experience and he quickly picked up on what style of teaching was the best fit for her. He has a very structured, patient and positive attitude to learning and the outcomes we have seen in a short period of time have been fantastic. Pat has been an amazing tutor over the last year and a bit helping me to improve my results in my final year of highschool. Through his diligent guidance I have been able to gain deeper understandings within many areas of math and rectify the mistakes I had previously been making. Pat has been a wonderful tutor since the beginning of my Year 11 preliminary exam period. Through his kind and dedicated approach to tutoring my mathematics advanced rank has risen from bottom of my year group and I have gained so much confidence and skill in approaching mathematics problems and understanding the theory and reasoning behind them. Our son in Year 9 has been having maths tutoring with Patrick for about a term and a half. In that time he has gone from a D grade to an A grade. He finally feels he has a grasp of mathematics, is understanding the concepts and as a result his self-confidence has greatly increased. My Yr 8 son’s maths test results were sitting at around 50-60% for the first half of this year. After a couple of months of weekly sessions with Pat they improved dramatically, and his last three test results have been 95%, 90% and 95%! Highly recommend.
