It is clean inside of the Coles some of the workers are polite some a rude and don't even bother asking if they can put something aside because they won't to me that means they don't care enough every other Coles I've ever been to does put aside as to me when a Coles is willing to put something aside shows they care and want to satisfy their and want to satisfy their customers.

your bakery is good but the fruit is very ordinary - take peaches look good but rock hard inside no juice only fit for bin - your fruit buyers need to be freshened up as does your fruit

Broben Daegen Farber once laboured here when it was actually a village market on the green. We remember him on this day. Most will recall a winter morning in 1918 when Lord Coles's silhouette emerged from the northern fog illuminated by a pale cold sun at the head of a large host. That day he would take the village green and construct his super market.Few amongst many were brave enough to make a hopeless stand against Lord Coles. The Valiant Companionship we now call those who died defending the green. At the time however, they were simply desperate and unlikely comrades who's only commonality was the spirit of resistance in the face of adversity and tyranny.Of these doughty men and women today we remember Broben Daegen Farber. No one ever wanted him there. He would come and sweep the grass and steal whatever he could. A low tier nuisance for the most part. Yet on that chilly day at the village green Broben would find his courage and purpose. Special boy Broben day. When at last came Lord Coles's army, and once it had assembled on the rise awaiting the clarion to charge, then forward stood bold Daegen Faber. The first to stand for Gawler. The first to die for Gawler. The words special boy Broben spoke that day will be remembered and taught in schools for as long as civilization endures. Go on get gone in ya dirty trousers then boys."It was upon speaking these words that Daegen Faber would charge straight into the enemy lines. Quickly cut down by a hail of bullets. It's here that I think it poignant to quote the poem little Lottie Pottinghutch wrote that day.Morning fog on the dewy greenMen without god came to ruin the sceneA wanton machine that consumed our dreamsThey built on-top a new market supremeMother wept the day Lord Coles cameAnd swept our little village green awayFor dad there stood amidst the frayAgainst the men who sent dismayDaddy died where the cars will parkNan nan will cry when we walk pastBut alas we will go to the nicer ColesCoz the other ones old and smells like mouldIs it worth the deaths for progress made?Yes. Ease of access on shopping daysI little Lottie weep now notAs I fill my shopping trolley cart or basket up to the topThis 100 year old poem really does capture the sentiment of that fateful morning. Especially from the perspective of childhood innocence. Fascinating and moving. It cannot be overstated how important it is to learn and remember the history of our own backyard. You will often find it is more colourful than whats in the magazines and in the computers. I hope this small snippet of Gawler history has tittilated your historical urges. Mayhaps even stimulated you to seek more township histories.Do as you will."

Coles is one of my favourite supermarkets, this one doesn't disappoint - great range, large store and plenty of friendly staff on hand to help if needed.

Not only are groceries in general more expensive, everytime you walk through their doors BUT they will only have one till on the go, be it rush hour or not. Expect people to use the robots which let's be honest.. I'm not the only one that dislikes that service. They will also have staff standing around chatting or watching over the bots instead of opening more tills for the customers. Crazy business plan

Usual great selection of items. Not thrilled about lack of checkout workers, if i wanted to scan my stuff I'd go to Aldi.
