Sue's specialises in the best local and seasonal produce from the Tenterfield/Stanthorpe area. Unlike a lot of supermarket fruit and veg, which are chosen for their ability to be transported long distances, the produce at Sue's is ripe, flavoursome and ready to eat - no rock-hard avocados or stone fruit here! In addition to fruit and veg she also carries a selection of other local goodies, such as award winning preserves, some amazing woodcrafts, honey, apple juice, milk, eggs and fresh flowers. A lot of the produce is fully organic and there are also some more exotic seasonal offerings to be had, such as dragonfruit, finger limes, and beautiful figs and rosellas (wild hibiscus) for the jam makers and preservers out there.The biggest difficulty with Sue's is finding it the first time - the sign pointing to the turnoff you need off the highway is right where you need to turn and looks like you're going through the into the back of the footy club, even though the lane is a public road (check the photos on maps to see what I mean). However, the upside is that, being on the corner of a quiet street and even quieter lane, there is plenty of easy street parking right outside the shop and there's no need to turn around - perfect if you're towing a caravan.If you're a foodie (or just tired of depressing supermarket seconds) Sue's is well worth investigating. You'll get far nicer produce and the prices are better than at the supermarket to boot.
