Go to a bigger hospital with specialists if you can. Unable to recognise and expedite transfer for a spinal emergency. Once at a major Hospital ( after two days), was taken straight to surgery. The delay meant a 2 month recovery period.

5 stars for our Ambo's, their brilliant, but travelling through Bathurst yesterday we noticed an Ambulance with writing all over it in protest to the state government, protest all you want but please I know it may have only been water paint but that's not your property to do such a thing it's the people's of nsw, so in the future do something else not paint an Ambulance to protest when it's not your property.

I think this a great hospital. The two times I have been the staff were fantastic. Recently saw a doctor in ED Dr Min absolutely amazing and lovely doctor. Never have I had an ED doctor call me the next day to check in. Didn't mess around either. There is always long wait times in EDs. Thank you to staff.

The wait time here is ridiculous. Drs seeing patients in the waiting room the earliest time is a 3-4 hour wait. It use to be quicker even when covid was rampant.

My review isn’t a diss on the hospital. Yes some staff are absolutely lovely and such kind hard working people, and some are extremely rude, inappropriate and at times even put peoples life’s and health at risk and should not be working there, but that’s a common workplace problem at the end of the day. My review takes into account staff shortages, overcrowded waiting room, and internal issues or crisis. So I will just write my personal experience.I had a very serious injury and advised multiple times if certain symptoms presented that they are life threatening and I’d need to rush to hospital. These symptoms did present, and I rushed to hospital as advised. Triage nurse very casually classed me as Triage level 4 and advised of the 5-6 hour wait, I explained my symptoms are serious and although sympathetic the triage level and wait time remained.Frustrated and scared, my partner drove me all the way to Nepean hospital because the travel time was much less then the waiting time at Bathurst base.I checked in and rushed into the ward straight away, the Doctors advised my condition was extremely serious and commented that if even a few more hours went by untreated that it could of been fatal, I was rushed into immediate surgery thereafter. The staff were disgusted by Bathurst Base unable to accommodate for the seriousness of this injury (my entire leg was completely black and amputation would of been very possible in mere hours longer from when I was in the surgeons care.I’m summary, if I stayed at Bathurst Base Hospital, I could of died or have lived a new life as an amputee. Pretty disgusting really. I’m so sad this is my local hospital as attending their service could prove fatal. I feel very sorry for the staff that have to be the face of the absolute horrible management of this place.

Emergency department- i don't agree that is correct department, this department runs like 90 year old guy. Mr local MP, please help the locals to get more doctors to provide help for those who really need to see in emergency. We pay tax from our job, we pay gst, we pay rta fees every year to drive a car, we pay for parking, toll and many more to go. I expect from the government to provide proper and reliable medical service.

A week or so ago, I was admitted to the ED at 2pm and after being transferred to the Medical Ward about 1.30am the next morning, left the hospital at 4.30pm.I have nothing but praise for the commitment, courtesy, professionalism and good humour of all those I interacted with. They were all outstanding.Only go to the ED when you need to (!!), but do so with confidence. Yes they were busy busy busy and I had to often wait longer than I would like, but I am certain there were people being attended to who needed care more urgently than I did at that time.

I wanted to express my gratitude to the staff of Bathurst Hospital over the weekend of 25th June through to 27th June. My 91 year old mother was admitted to the Medical Ward via the Emergency Department. She spent three days in palliative care and we were able to stay with her the whole time. At all times the staff ensured that my mother was comfortable. They showed compassion and professionalism and I couldn’t fault the care she received.

An all round terrible hospital. The service is rubbish. You are better off to travel 40-45 minutes to either Orange Hospital or Lithgow Hospital. The number of terrible experiences had here are immeasurable. If you have chest pains, they will make you wait 5+ hours. They also don’t take women’s reproductive health seriously, with ultrasound techs refusing to come in an examine a faulty/incorrect contraceptive item causing immense pain because they did not deem it an “emergency”. An embarrassment to all of Bathurst. Rather than fixing the building, car park & the overall structure of the hospital, they should focus on getting better staff (or more staff), doctors, equipment, & take some compassion courses. Absolutely disgusting.
