Has new lifts installed as of 2021, so accessibility has improved.But a lot of graffiti in the vicinity of the train station, and the pedestrian overhead bridge really needs an upgrade with significant rusting, extremely old design that dates back to 1800s, and no shelter in the event of wet weather or scorching temperatures.

Petersham has always had a good railway station and it is located pretty close to everything. Across from the main platform is the heritage listed old platform which has been out of use for a very long time. There is no lift access and just has one exit point which is the old staircase near the end of the platform.The only other con is that they lock the toilets at the station, even during the day, so if you need to gypsy's kiss then either do it at the end of the platform or make sure you have gone before attending the station.

I didn’t know you could give train stations ratings so you learn something new every day. This station is full of history, similar to many others on the inner west line. The fact they’ve made it accessible is also a a major plus. Too many of the old stations are difficult to get around, but not Petersham.

Beautifully preserved and restored heritage platform and station house, unfortunately the toilets are always rather poorly kept. Despite the money being poured in for new lifts, the covered area could stand to do with some expansion across the length of the platform as the station gets quite busy and peak hour during torrential rain creates extremely hazardous conditions for those alighting and boarding train services.
