Great venue. Very spacious and good sound. Not too loud and in your face even for a metal gig. Bar is great and the staff are nice

Best sound for this medium sized rock venue for big bands in town

Below average place for comedy festival shows. Great place for live bands. The rows of seats are so squished together, if you needed to get up for some reason during the show, you have no chance of moving. I personally wouldn't go back to any comedy show that was being held here.

Awesome venue to see a show! Small enough to be close to the stage. Ours was a cabaret but I wonder how loud does it get with some of those bands playing? They sell ear plugs at the bar! Drinks were good and bar staff were great serving them. So, a great place to see a show.

The Max Watts Melbourne is a hidden gem across the CBD Town Hall. Blink and you might miss the door which immediately opens into a flight of stairs to the underground venue next to the Century Building entrance. It’s a cozy, intimate venue with a balcony and its own bar, good for exclusive group viewing. In the gig I attended, the artists Switchfoot used this space for their Meet and Greet.Couple more flights down and the main area opens up to a cozy and intimate room with a mosh pit in the middle with two steps of elevation. There are some bar tables and chairs at the periphery though this event was standing room only. A 1-2 meter gap is maintained by a barricade between the stage and the audience. A bar at the back of the auditorium is open to the general audience. There is a cloak room behind the said bar; they charge $5 per item and the barman will take care of it for you. A separate counter was used as a merch counter in this event I attended. The place has a separate wheelchair-accessible entrance and dedicated checker plated platform for one wheelchair located on each end of the barricade. The security personnel from the front door to the main hall are exceptionally approachable and friendly. So are the barmen. This makes it a cool place to enjoy your favourite artists. It packs pretty well for an intimate venue.

The sound system in this venue needs to be thrown in the bin. Huge lack of ventilation at the venue and the toilets had the longest line out the door. A JBL sound bar would do a better job to be honest & unfortunately there’s no smokers area (just upstairs on the street is considered smokers)

This is a great venue for punters. At the gig I was at, access was available for wheelchair users, the view was great and there is a dedicated mosh pit so it's a 'at your own risk' thing as it should be.Sounds and lights were standard house system and did the job well. Not too loud to make the ears bleed thankfully but plenty of bass for the body and ears. LED lights tracks on the ceiling along with movers hung and floor mounted were well coordinated and worked to enhance the act on stage.Bar service was prompt and prices were as expected. There is an overflow area upstairs that wasn't open when I was there. This venue is a repurchased cinemaLoad in and out must be a hassle as the ramp to stage is steeeep!Green room is tiny and up highSecurity were professional friendly and not obtrusive

Would not understand why any artist who respects his craft would pick a place with such horrendous sound system. It is the WORST. Place is poorly maintained and the floors were all sticky and stinky with poor ventilation and conditioning. Go here to get your worst concert experience
