Castlemaine Farmers Market

Love it! Lovely producers who are passionate about their wares, and really nice range of products for a weekly market (Wednesdays), and another step up for the monthly market. Definitely recommend getting there early for the Wednesday market, as some stall holders routinely sell out

Doesn’t allow dogs! Came to visit from Melbourne and this was the one place I was sure would be dog friendly and was shocked when we rocked up and weren’t allowed to enter with our puppy. Bit of a strange rule. Market was okay but being unable to bring our puppy in really made it difficult to enjoy.

So good it’s open again and many producers and wares available. I bought a T-bone steak some Red Gum Rum to marinade it. Shops here for a wonderful dinner to cook at home and reflect the market and the desire to visit again.

Good little find on our way in to Castlemaine. Some good gluten free food options, decent coffee and quite a few crafty stalls.

A nice friendly atmosphere can be found here at this relitively small market. There is live music and decent enough variety of fresh organic produce which I personally found a little on the expensive side. There are a variety of snacks like BBQ sausages, coffee stands, cakes and more to be found. Special mention to delicious local authentic honey and honey related products. One place was DMC Honey which had a stand at the Market and another great source of local Honey is a very short walk to the Fruit shop opposite the Castlemaine Tourist information centre. They have some great varietys as well. Also a fresh peanut butter stand which has taste testing on a wide variety of nut spreads.

Great place, but no dogs allowed so that is a downfall. Stalls are varied and good value if you know what you are looking for

What can I say... other than awesome experience, with friendly store holders and fresh artisan foods, chemical free. Love these places.

I guess I must have got my wires crossed because I went here to buy a locally produced and sustainable farmer but was told in no uncertain terms that I was being silly. A window is silly, I just want some help in the garden. The stars are all for the person I saw do a cool kick flip at the skate park.

Amazing produce and the meat tastes like what meat should taste like, before all the added colouring and preservatives. The chai tent is warm and welcoming. Can't praise this market highly enough. Well done to all the friendly vendors.Please note, this market is every Wednesday afternoon at the sports ground in Forest Street, next to the railway line and a short walk from the station for out-of-towners. I particularly want to add that the mandarins are worth every penny. Best mandarins I have had since I was a child.
