Worthwhile to visit if you happen to be at the Marly anyway. I often visit for the novelty factor and usually go back upstairs slightly confused and a little disappointed. Experimental cocktails with Japanese liquors and strange live music occasionally.

Three stars but with MASSIVE potential. The sound system is indeed amazing. But they just need to calibrate it slightly more. You can get an amazing bass and mids in one minute and then the bass can suddenly overpower everything else and mufflee up the sound to the point your ears hurt. But you see that suddenly , as the DJ plays with pith and bass - the sound fixes itself and turn back to be AMAZING. So sound issues are not a result of system limitation , but simply a by product of poor calibration. Also, currently this place has no lightning or visual aids to compliment the music. This is easy to fix. Finally, DJ where only 50% compare to what you get in places like 161 (Melbourne) , but this is more a question of my personal preferences than an objective reality.

Great music and atmosphere! Sydney needs more underground places like this. House cocktails are pretty good as well.

Great little club which hosts events of all alternative kinds. Always has free entry and a pretty diverse crowd. It reminds me of some of the old Kings Cross style clubs years ago. Always provides a good time and a sure kickon in Newtown. Check the event before you go to know what you're in for.

Watched Ned Blanders here last weekend and it was great! Small little quirky club downstairs and the drinks are reasonably priced.

Quite disappointed about it as I don't see what's all the hype about. I guess it's because it's one of the pubs that's opened after midnight. But still, not quite worth the long queue outside

Security didn't let my aunt in, were quite sarcastic about it. She's 65 and had had a few glasses of wine. She was fine. She was visiting from overseas and was keen to see one of my mates perform at this venue. Welcome to Sydney I guess, typical overkill - would be good if security focused on genuine threats but that's too much to ask. Just go to Europe guys! :-)

Dark, fun and weird. Drink a lychee cocktail from a lychee can or get jelly shots served sushi-style on a platter with chopsticks.

I went to one of the house music events.. believe me.. sound system is good.. I even read reviews, and I was wondering how good can be?? And yes.. it is good.. also compare to upstairs, completely different sound and too good.. but I'm sorry, the reason why one star.. I can't stand the smell of toilet.. that's tooooo much.. I couldn't even get drunk (I knew I was drunk, but I couldn't). I couldn't stand the smells, and I had to leave the venue to breathe every 30 minutes... n I gave up even before finishing the event..
