Silversonic - Scuba Diving & Snorkelling

What an amazing outing! We’ve done both Quicksilver and Silversonic and today’s Sonic was faultless. Staff were amazing, lucky with the weather but visiting 3 reefs was a perfect way to explore! Thank you, loved it!

Great day out. Lovely boat with an awesome crew and tasty food. We did three snorkel stops and all had amazing sealife and you could get really close to everything. Seeing a dwarf minke was icing on the cake. All the marine life was stunning. The first stop felt a bit crowded with everyone snorkelling, but the other two were nicely spread out. We also did a snorkel trip out of Cairns but this trip with Silversonic got us closer to lots more marine life.

Absolutely fantastic day on the boat. We chose to go scuba diving and had the best instructor with Gordon. He was calm, patient and made the trip so enjoyable. Also shout out to Jeff who was great as well. Both Gordon and Jeff helped my sister overcome her panic and ensured she could go down for one dive which was absolutely amazing. Me and my mom went down for 3 dives in total because it was so great. Couldn’t fault the day but all the staff made it even better! If I could rate it more than 5 stars I would. Thanks Gordon (and Jeff!)

Such a fun day on the reef, great crew! Special shout-out to Jeff!! My 8 year old nephew was a bit hesitant since it was his first time snorkeling and Jeff took the time to take him out and drive down and show him everything there was to see. Amazing experience for him that he won’t forget!

Should I snorkel in Port Douglas or Cairns? 100% Port Douglas. This company is fantastic. You go to three reef sites. Each reef site is a little different. Moving sites is a brilliant idea. We preferred this to staying on a pontoon all day which it is what we did in Cairns. (Silver swift is the sister company in Cairns which travel to different sites as well). This company has 20 plus sites so every trip will be different. Dory only swims at certain reefs, other reefs have giant clams, others have schools of miniature tropical fish. On the third reef you can go on a guided snorkel tour for free. The guide will point out the different types of fish and coral. We had a dream trip, we saw a shark and a turtle. 60% of the time they see a turtle. Their other company that goes to the low isles see turtles 90% of the time. The reefs today were brighter in colour than the ones we saw at a Cairns. The day was planned perfectly. The dive instructions were thorough with some added humour. The staff are brilliant, special mention to Mick and Simon. The food was pretty good too, lovely fresh foccacia sandwiches with some pastries started the day. Lunch was salads with a few hot dishes and tiny prawns which were advertised as King prawns. Cake on the way back ran out, which was very sad. Seeing a turtle was magical and was the highlight of our stay. This company offers 25% off with the entertainment book. You save around $70 off each ticket.

This experience was one of the most breathtaking opportunities I’ve got to take part in! The SilverSonic Yacht is extremely spacious and was able to endure the majority of the wave/motion activity to make the hour long commute to our first dive spot a relaxing ride. The staff is quick to answer any questions regarding the fish/corals we got to see, and even offered a guided snorkeling session at our last stop. The on-board hot and cold lunch was delicious, and I would strongly recommend this company for your excursion!

Silversonic / Quicksilver - snorkel and scuba was a beautiful experience with such a professional team. Dann a young bloke was our dive instructor who was supervised by a senior dive instructor. The pick up from hotel, registration process, cruise boarding - everything went smoothly and most importantly punctually. Food in the cruise was totally upto our expectations with fresh fruits. There were 3 dive sites and since this was my first time in water it took 4 instructors to give me confidence to snorkel and eventually dive and all gave their time patiently. Because of them i could do my first dive. Thank You so much to everyone. When in Cairns this is a must do at Port Douglas. Amazing Experience.

I had an absolutely amazing time on this boat, the scuba guides were really fun & high energy.The dive sites were amazing, and some of the best on the Great Barrier Reef.This trip is definitely worth transferring from Cairns, they have an optional bus add on that drops you off at the terminal

Great boat, Silversonic was much more stable in similar conditions compared with a different companies boat which i took a few days later. Easy water entry, open snorkelling area at the reef. Coral all good and saw a few reef sharks on the dive. Good system for dives with built in tank refill between dives.
