Hotondo Homes - Melton

I did not have a good experience with Hotondo. We waited 9 months for a quote which was over 50% mark up on the estimate. Little care in looking over initial drafts which ultimately led to the increase of 55% Communication was terrible with the exception of Anna Marie. We never went through with the build.

I experienced dangerous and reckless driving from one of your vehicle's 1MT G something was the rego plate on the SUV/4WD. Just left Melton and driving down the western towards Ballarat. There's no way I'd do business with a company that was unable to merge and also endangered the life of an unexpected driver in a ute who had to slam their brakes on. You almost took out my rear end in front of the ute. Next time you want to drive recklessly maybe don't do it in a company vehicle with your logo all over it. If you endangered the lives of others on the road I'd hate to see what type of danger goes in to your home's.

Our journey started with a display home visit and went from there. We had never built a house before as you hear about all the horror stories. We decided to finally give it a go with the Birchgrove 164, and were pleasantly surprised. First we dealt with Anna who was a pleasure to deal with explaining everything to us and also answering our never ending questions. The build got under way and we cannot express enough what an absolute pleasure it was to deal with the Hotondo staff in Melton. Darren was fantastic and was always available to answer any questions or concerns we had a long the way and was very approachable at all times. If I ever had to email him about anything he always got back to me ASAP, which was fantastic so you are not left wondering. Vesna in the office was always on hand whenever I needed to call about anything and always made sure I wasn't forgotton about. Our site supervisor Rob I can't speak more highly about, he kept everything on track and if I needed to get in contact with him about anything he always answered immediately and was an absolute pleasure to deal with also. We are now in our fabulous house all because of these guys and couldn't be happier. I would not hesitate to build a house through Hotondo Melton, it was such a smooth process and stress free, and I thank all of you and would highly recommend you to anyone.

I built with Darvale Homes (Hotondo) 3 years ago.The process was one of the easiest to go through. Darren and Vesna run the business flawlessly. From the initial consultation with Darren, he stepped us through all aspects of the build and also linked us to a mortgage broker. The build itself was extremely smooth with only 1 minor issue that was picked up on early and corrected immediately. Darren ensured that all the products used were of a very high standard and overall, we were ecstatic with the result. During the build at frame stage, I requested a minor change, which was readily accepted and I was able to add my own details as applicable with no issue from Darren. Any and all communication initiated by me was promptly answered to my satisfaction.I then returned to Darvale 5 months ago to have an addition/modification completed as their quote came under an initial quote from another company. Once again, Darren excelled in delivering a fabulous product.I have recommended Darvale to a number of colleagues and friends, and will continue to do so. I don't intend on moving any time soon, but if I was, I would definitely be choosing Darvale to build with again. And again!Thank you, Darren and Vesna, and team!

Amazing builders!! From start to finish Darren & his team had such an eye for detail and went to great lengths to ensure there were no faults with our home. Absolutely everybody that has come to see our home has fallen in love with it and can't fault the workmanship.

Started brilliantly, ended very badly!In the beginning we dealt directly with Darren as the Sales person was quite racist. Darren and Vesna were fantastic! They really listened to our needs and were very helpful in giving directions to the changes we wanted to make to the plan. We signed the contract, chose our colours and off we went. It took over 10months for the build, they literally took right up until the contract completion date for handover. The foreman Rob was lovely to deal with and all the trades were lovely during the build. The framer even came up with a slight change to a cupboard/wall to give us more space and present better once completed. There was a trade who tried to change the bath plans without speaking to us, however this was quickly rectified. The wrong tiles were laid in our home, however we were compensated for this. My advice, is to keep a close eye on the build, we visited the block almost daily, so that's how we picked up these errors along the way. When it came close to handover time, we had no clear notice on the date, this made things difficult in planning ahead with our current accommodation. When we did the defect walk through, we missed a few things, but were promised this would be rectified after handover. On handover day the house was still being cleaned and they did a terrible job, they had to return the next day, which was moving day. At our 90 day maintenance check, I took photos and compiled a report for them that was very simple to see the issues and the lack of good quality finishing's that we were promised. Its been over 1 year and its still not been rectified. We are now not even getting a response to our emails and as such we have had to lodge domestic building dispute resolution application. Honestly, there is issues with all builders, however own up and fix the issues so people can enjoy their home!Ohhh and dont forget to get everything you want in writing, we had a very expensive cost with a door that was not recorded properly on the plans.
