As a member of Southern Cross, I’ve trained in BJJ and karate with John Trebilco for many years; he is a great mentor and has pushed me to keep learning. I recently moved across to his Robina branch and am thoroughly enjoying the classes; an excellent mix of discipline, new knowledge and fun. I love that John and his team are continually cross-training; this is particularly important for me as I’ve been practicing martial arts for 35 years… I never get bored at Robina as there is always something new to try.

I’ve been training in martial arts for 20 years and with Southern Cross Martial arts for six years and in my opinion it’s the best mix of traditional karate, ground wrestling and throwing you can have. It’s a true self defence style that is all practicality and no fluff. Excellent for kids, teens and adults alike.

We started with southern cross martial arts in 2011 when my son was 5 years old . We were looking for an activity for our child who was asd , adhd and low muscle tone most sports were out so after a flyer arrived in our mailbox I gave John a call and we did a trial , our son is now 17 going on 18 and still going.We have gone through so many obstacles with our son over that time and the support of the southern cross instructors has been just phenomenal. We have had short breaks here and there over the years but always had the support of staff 110%Our sons confidence , strength and social skills have just soared. We love it cause it’s as at each individuals pace although your son grades slower to his belts than others he still sticks to it and we have the support. We get calls fromThe instructors on our child’s performance and what needs to be worked on etc I really could go on after 11 years but all I can say is you won’t regret at least giving your child a trial with this fantastic group. This isn’t just another martial arts group this is the only one !
