Gemfields Fossicking Park

What a unexpected bonus for our visit to the Gemfields. It was a lot more fun than what we thought and Mark was patient & friendly explaining the process to us. We even found a few little sapphires to make it even more worthwhile. We would definitely do it again!

Mark is very helpful and friendly. Had a wonderful time there and I went back to my childhood memories. Definitely recommended for kids with their parents. You can have an awesome time. Learnt some gemology out there and it was fun.

Absolutely awesome experience. Definitely going to become a regular. We all had a blast and Mark taught us very thoroughly. After we were done, he rewashed and checked our pile and still found more gems. Highly recommend visiting.

We really enjoyed our fossicking experience here. One of the few places that was open after midday! Since we had arrived then & were moving on the next morning this suited us & we were so glad they were open! The equipment was well set out & we were shown step by step what to do. We weren't expecting to find any gems but we found lots of little ones. The kids were stoked! Definitely recommend. We paid $50 for 3 tubs which was more than enough for 2A+2C. Was quite hot at midday in late April but you need to work in the sun to see the glint of the gems! So make sure to have hats, water & sunscreen!Follow our travels @kidsgoplaces

Spent 14 days in the Gemfields and visited here (on recommendation from Toni from Gemini Caravan Park) at least four times( once with our Granddaughter)Mark was very helpful and checked our wash after we had completed our looking and pointed out any gemstones we missed.Reasonable price for a bucket of wash and you DO find sapphires, zircons and spinel so you wont be disappointedMark will guide you through the routine from shaking to Willoughby to finding.We will return on our next visit to Sapphire.Thanks Mark.

Such a great way to spend a few hours. The owner is a great guy, so patient and helpful getting you started with fossicking. Plenty of interesting stories from real mining claims too. Only $25 for a bucket of wash which will keep newbies occupied for ages.
