Standout Cleaning
I don’t normally go out of my way to leave negative reviews but this has been such an awful post-service experience, it would be wrong of me not to warn others.To summarise, Standout unapologetically overcharged me and are highly unprofessional and difficult to deal in this regard.Standout seems to be a couple of people that coordinate private contractors to complete cleaning jobs. I asked them to do an end of lease clean in my 2x2 apartment. They were aware that I had made a start on some of the cleaning myself and assured me that I would only be charged for the hours their cleaner spent cleaning. I asked them to have their cleaner to go over everything to ensure passing final inspection.Standout OVERCHARGED me by 2.5 hours. Charged 6 hours for 3.5 hours of cleaning ($55/hr). Cleaner had to collect and return keys from my apartment building manager and they confirmed the times as 3.5 hours. When I brought this to Standout’s attention, they initially said “there’s nothing to discuss” because I got estimated quoted for more (10 hour) and proceeded to falsely claim I included my apartment’s storeroom last minute. I was simply calling out of courtesy on the day of the clean that I was on my way to the apartment and reminded them not to forget to sweep the storeroom (as part of the checklist) because it was on a different level near the parking bay. This only accounted for 30mins of the total 2.5 overcharged hours.Turns out the cleaner didn’t do the storeroom and had already left. Standout made this cleaner come back and charged me an extra 30mins for them driving away and back just to sweep up for 2min. Had they of communicated this before sending the cleaner back, I would have refused! Got a call when they rocked up and felt confused why they came back, felt awkward and pressured to let the cleaner sweep the storeroom. Standout’s policy was that they will re-attend a faulted job at no extra cost - I assumed that the storeroom fell under that category.My suspicion is Standout did not send the checklist to the contracted cleaner as the clean was faulted in final inspection anyway, so if I didn’t remind them to, they would have had to sweep the storeroom when they re-attended anyway.Despite bringing all the above to Standout’s attention, they refused to address anything of my concerns or refund for that extra 30min for the storeroom.Next issue is that they told me the cleaner would start at 7am. I asked my apartment building manager what time the cleaner came in to collect the key from them, they said the cleaner came in at 8am. This is accounts for 1 hour overcharged that Standout continues to refuse to refund despite building manager being a third party witness that the cleaner started one hour later than Standout claimed. Building manager says there is even CCTV of cleaner arriving and leaving to confirm.Second hour overcharged was refunded with great difficulty, no apology and no explanation. Remaining 1.5 hours overcharged have yet to be refunded at this stage.I will say that Standout seemed to be professional to deal with when initially organising the end of lease clean. When I received my invoice, I thought it didn’t look right but I was overseas and unable to text or call to clarify. I decided to pay first and clarify later thinking that Standout would continue to be professional and reasonable but I was unfortunately taken advantage of and price gouged instead! Standout did not care about the overcharge. Said I’m welcome to take it further with Consumer Protection/google review etc. (as I’m following through with now)Very disappointing and such a waste of time. Such a predatory way to conduct a business and so not okay. Will be referring them to Consumer Protection for others sake. Nobody should go through this and neither should a business get away with such.
