I highly recommend Professionals Australia if you're looking for a Union that is interested in protecting your workplace rights and interests. We recently had some issues at our workplace where the Union represented the staff involved and rectified the solution. Professionals Australia supports its members in their continued professional development and provided me the opportunity to delve into an intense, one-day media & communications course for scientists in 2017. I was one of two national winners of the Science Upskill Scholarships (awarded annually), and it has increased my confidence as a communicator and educator. The organisation also disseminates an annual report to summarise the trends and insights into the Australian science industry. Highly recommend joining if you're a scientist.

Excellent organisation - assists in enterprise bargaining, protecting employee's rights and conditions. Members also have complimentary personal indemnity insurance, access to CPD materials, reviewing contracts. Highly recommend.
