Bamarang Bush Retreat

I have been hosting retreats and have had beautiful family getaways at Bamarang for over 15 years. Each experience is wonderful and a re-discovering of nature and its peaceful beauty. Bamarang is wonderfully unique and blends effortlessly into the natural surrounds, with some amazing eclectic touches. On retreats my guests have always been comfortable and comment on the uniqueness of Bamarang. We all love the dedicated yoga room! I have to say that over the past year or so the cleanliness at Bamarang has been 5 star and have found management always ready to help and are very friendly. I'm looking forward to my next stay at Bamarang.

Bamarang Bush Retreat is my favourite place to escape the stresses of city life. Over the past year, I have been fortunate to stay in The Main House, The Round House and The Cabins.All of the accommodations are uniquely built with artistic and original touches in the most spectacular bush setting.The Main house is perfect for large gatherings, weddings or retreats with ample facilities to create your own function. The bedrooms have crisp hand screen printed clean linen and comfortable mattresses.There are stunning bush walks that lead up to a clifftop lookout and the river is a five minute walk away, perfect for swimming, kayaking and picnicking. It is also a ten minute drive from the conveniences of Nowra and half an hour drive to the crystal white beaches of Jervis Bay.Shon who runs the retreat has always been a delight to communicate with pre and post stay and any requests quickly responded to.I always jump at an opportunity to stay here and hope there will be many more visits in the future, I couldn't recommend this place more!!

We were married at Bamarang in January 2021. After having to re-venue, due to our original venue’s capacity being severely cut (due to COVID), Shon was absolutely great to work with in booking Bamarang. There were no issues with site visits and communication was above and beyond. Now for the venue - what can I say? This place was incredible! It was the second time I’d stayed there (the first being for a climbing and yoga weekend). Waking up in the beautiful landscape surrounded by nature was incredible. there were some great lookout walks direct from the property. We got to spend an extended weekend away in nature with so many of our nearest and dearest, who all loved the space. We got to enjoy the beautiful outdoor fireplace, do yoga in the beautiful yoga hall, walk down to the river and enjoy the shoalhaven and bask in each other’s company. During the wedding there were enough tables and chairs for all of our guests to be seated comfortably and we barely needed to bring in our own decor beyond fairy lights, a dance floor and some wildflowers in milk bottles because this place is beautiful in itself! All of the beds were very comfortable. All the houses were clean, neat and tidy. The decor and the homes were so unique and eclectic but all off the crockery and utensils were clean and modern (yay for the a-million-burner gas stove and a huge oven indoors! and so many fridges). There were more than enough bathrooms for all of our guests and fans in all upstairs rooms with flyscreens on the windows for a nice breeze. Shon was kind enough to ensure there was plenty of hand sanitiser and soap around too (great touch especially with covid). Also, with any questions or extra requests we had during the lead up or during our stay Shon was very responsive and accommodating. Honestly? This place is a hidden gem and I wouldn’t be surprised if it is continually booked out for retreats/weddings/events may, especially since soooo many of our guests and wedding vendors also fell in love with the place. I've attached some shots so you can see all of the beautiful spots in this place - we were spoilt for choice with where we wanted our ceremony (soo many natural/man-made arbours to choose from - there is beautiful lighting everywhere) and reception to be (highly recommend the deck adorned with fairy lights and a big ol' dancefloor with fairylights on the grass area by the deck). We’re very much looking forward to visiting this place regularly in the future for a cabin stay to relax, unwind and enjoy the beautiful space of Bamarang. Even with all the reviews and photos I saw, and even though I had stayed before (when it wasn't decorated for a wedding), no photos do this place justice. Even after showing photos to my loved ones we were all in agreeance that this place was an incredible and special place. Do yourselves a favour and arrange a site visit with Shon, you won't regret it. We even had an older couple drive by during our sunset photoshoot with their beautiful classic car scoping out potential spots for their son's wedding and they loved the look of the place too (see pic for actual candid car photoshoot shots haha) Thank you so much, Shon! If you're looking for a destination for your next event or holiday that will have everyone leaving with great memories, look no further. Situated deep in the bush these mudbrick homes are perfect for your summer getaway or even a small wedding. Plenty of outdoor space to run around in, the local wildlife is amazing, and the river is serene. Hosts were very accommodating. We loved our stay and would go back again!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Such a unique and enchanting little grove, close to Sydney and great for groups. Whether you like indoor activities or outdoor you're well covered. Excellent facilities for cooking, eating and sleeping. Very good atmosphere and charming touches.

On our way to Bamarang for this weekend, and I think I can speak for our whole group- very excited.Its been over 2 years since we have been able to do our annual weekend at the retreat(thanks COVID). Normally we go in July, but after not being to go for the last 2 years we have booked a summer weekend so it will be a new experience.For winter there is a slow combustion stove in one building that heats all 3 buildings and a large open fire place on a huge verandah so we can keep warm.I am very much looking forward to swimming in the river this time and enjoying the summer experience.

Bamarang is the most beautiful place for us. We discovered" it when we went on a yoga retreat. So for the last 10 years

Bamarang is a truly unique venue nestled in the beautiful Australian bushland. This place is like no other and is equipped with everything you need. I especially enjoyed being cut of from the world with no phone or internet access. Will definitely stay again and highly recommend!

I can't recommend this place highly enough. Our book club just stayed here over the weekend and it was the perfect location - well equipped, beautifully maintained, tons of character, surrounded by nature and with plenty of lovely little nooks to enjoy a good read. Shon was an excellent host, very accommodating and helpful. We're all trying to think of any excuse to come back here and stay again, hopefully for a bit longer next time. Truly a very special place.
