Metro Advance Apartments & Hotel Darwin

This place is in its death spiral. I got a good deal on it and wasn't expecting much a working aircon and a bed" was pretty much it. The first unit we were in had both aircons broken

Overall a decent hotel. Great location (Smith St., Mitchell St. & The Waterfront within walking distance, right next door to Woolworths), 24/7 access to a pool, very friendly staff, clean room with a kitchenette, very functional bathroom and access to a smart TV for streaming.Negatively, the bed was quite uncomfortable. The large bed was, in fact, two single beds put together under a sheet, which makes sleeping near the middle very uncomfortable. The pillows were all the same and noticeably tough, raised quite high to accommodate side-sleepers. Back-sleepers will probably not get the best night's sleep here. The room also smelled quite bad. Despite rigorous searching, I could not, for the life of me, figure out what was causing it. I ended up purchasing a can of air freshener to use periodically throughout the stay to keep the smell at bay. It worked quite well, probably the smartest $4 I've spent in recent years, I'd recommend doing the same before your stay.Ultimately I was satisfied with my stay for the price. You're not paying top-dollar to stay here, and thus some downsides are expected. The rooms were incredibly clean (aside from the smell) and the service was absolutely excellent, which are, to me, the two most important aspects of a hotel stay. Being walking distance from Darwin City's main attractions is very handy if you're a tourist. I think if the hotel installed automatic air fresheners in their rooms I would comfortably bump this up to 4 stars. Truthfully, I wish I could rate it 3.5 stars, because this is a good hotel, but google doesn't let me.

Stayed Easter long weekend.Location is good.We were only given 2 towels for 4 people and had to keep asking for more until they reluctantly gave us some 3 days later.A/C didn't cool.Shower had no water pressure.Our room didn't get serviced.Very disappointing when you spend so much money.I wouldn't stay here again.

Let’s start with what was nice: great location and friendly staff.Now, for the not so nice: Downlights in the kitchen didn’t work, the bathroom sink had to be unblocked, shower was mouldy, and linen was not changed as frequently as stated.It appeared management was unprepared for the long weekend, and perhaps staffing was an issue. But, I expected more from a 4 star property. Overall, a somewhat disappointing experience.

What a genuinely wonderful bunch of Staff Metro has here!The very instant my Wife & I arrived the Italian lady at reception was so helpful. Such a Beautiful warm smile to greet us, so naturally gregarious & genuine, professional yet with a genuine warmth ( which is a SO rare & hard to find these days ) & a quick chat answering all our questions about Darwin & to outdo herself, upgraded Kerry & I to an apartment with a balcony.The one other lady at the front desk was equally as warm & professional & a smile & personality to match her colleague's. The cleaners obviously take pride - it showed inside our apartment & is so very appreciated. Thankyou. Secure parking downstairs underneath the Motel & with Woolies literally next door & Mitchell Street a 4 minute walk, coupled with the price, this Metro really would be the only place we'll stay at in future. In general the room catered for my needs for 2 nights. Staff were good, close to the airport and check in and out was goodRoom was a good size. Area is central and close to the shops. Room had a sink and fridge which was a bonus

Clean tidy with all facilities you could need. Close to shops and the Mall

Lovely rooms and staff. Handy location. Limited reception hours, pool hours, and gym hours were inconvenient. The housekeeping was flawless and was way above most 5 star hotels I have stayed at anywhere in the world over 20 years of travel. Hope to return soon.

I was so tired from a day of air travel that I booked a room here last minute and I’m so glad I did. Staff were friendly, apartment was clean, great price for a room with kitchenette (it is off season). Woolworths just around the corner for a cheap meal in. Some noise from people moving about outside but nothing earplugs can’t fix. $10 car parking for peace of mind. I enjoyed my stay!
