Millers Crossing
Miller's Crossing became open space when land was resumed for a regional road connection over the railway. It has been well maintained and looked after by the local council since the completion of the bridge and has become a local park for this dense part of the Town of Victoria Park.It is clear from satellite imagery that this land forms an integrated Public Open Space (POS) network. Importantly, it is central to where EVP, Vic Park, Lathlain and Carlisle intersect and denotes a key focal point of the area worth focusing on.The importance of this centrally located POS cannot be underestimated. It provides walkable (and rideable) POS accessibility to the denser parts of the Town, while being very accessible to the wider catchment area and somewhat of a landmark and entry statement as one uses Millers Crossing in either direction. The land also forms part of the 'green spine' that local advocacy group Vic Park Trees wishes to see become a green corridor - the first in Victoria Park. The green corridor concept comes from the recognition that Kent St/Miller St/Roberts Rd connects some of the Town's most important green spaces and provides a central movement corridor which has the potential of being both an amazing walkable and rideable experience through the entire town.
