The Onkeeta Trail is easily the most pleasant of all of the Kuitpo walking trails. The trail is wide and relatively well surfaced for forestry vehicle usage. The trail is well signed, and there are also other trails that run through the forest, rhe Heysen Trail as well as the Wilunga Basin Trail. It is a mixture of native shrubland and plantation forest, frequently one on either side of the trail. The native shrubbery harbours a variety of fauna, whilst the dark avenues through the pine plantations are the perfect places to spot mushrooms. It is a comfortable four hour hike, and is not usually busy, and you may just see some equestrian riding through. Many fond memories exploring the woods with the dearest of friends.

Amazing hiking experience. Walking among the woods was absolutely refreshing. Meeting a lovely lady on her beautiful horse was a plus. We’d definitely go back there sometime soon.

A trail walk around the Mt Panorama area, taking in pine forest and native bush, with a view over Kangarilla. 4 hours of enjoyable exercise.

A good hike with clearly marked and wide walking trail. Often you will have pine trees on one side and native forest on the other side. While walking along you notice that the pine forest has no animal life by comparison to the native forest on the other side of the trail.
