Colac Rest Area
This is a fairly average rest area. It has lots of open grass for pets however there is only one undercover picnic bench for the area. The rest stop has toilets that flush and on occasion there is a mobile coffee can here. There are dedicated areas for trucks and cars alike. There are plenty of rubbish bins around, but nothing in the way of tree coverage for shade or insulation from the noise of the highway. This place is great for a quick stop but for anything longer, I would not recommend this area.

Good place to stop and stretch your legs. Tables and chairs to sit at while having your picnic or takeaway. Restrooms are usually good. They are cleaned and bins emptied federally. Can become untidy when there is a high volume of travellers or travellers travelling who don't appreciate the facility.

Rest area southbound on the Hume Highway. Some of the info graphic boards are suffering from weather and need replacement. The toilets were ok but the size of the spiders on the roof area - the golden orbs - were massive! There is a spot to sit on the picnic tables but not much shade about. One other interesting point is that I saw three butterflies here. A good spot to stop if you don’t want the hustle and bustle of the bigger take away chain stops.

Colac Rest Area
On the way to Melbourne we needed to stop for a sleep. It had to have facilities and a safe place to spend a few hours of rest. I've always stopped here on trips to Melbourne. The toilets were clean and well-lit. It's a frequent stop for truckies and other travellers so we decided to stop for the night. Great rest!!!

Much needed when drive so long. When you drive through this highway, there is hardly anything you find to take rest. This place provides large parking area, restrooms and yeah some tables laid out if you like to have some quick food while resting. Great place to relax between your long drive.
